existing business process is very much needed in
attaining competitive advantage.
• Sunoco Inc. is aiming to transform their conventional
system into cloud based data storage system to
handle the valuable data in an effective manner.
• Gathering all the data in a single platform is making
it difficult for them to explore the more prioritized
data (Kreutzer, Neugebauer & Pattloch, 2018).
• Thus, they are showing their willingness to execute
the new system to separate the most valuable and
least valuable data.

CHALLENGE 1: LACK OF SKILL AMONG THE STAFFS
• Not having sufficient knowledge among the staffs
can make it difficult for them to adapt with new
system (Boon et al., 2018).
• Sunoco Inc. might face certain challenges in the
way of initiating cloud-based software system, as
the staffs are not expertise in the field.
Recommendation
• Knowledge regarding the tools and techniques of
handling the cloud-based software must be
integrated among the employees.

CHALLENGE 2: INCONSISTENT PROCESS
• Lack of planning is the major challenge in
organizational change management (Akinbode & Al
Shuhumi,2018).
• This can also create barriers for the staff to explore
the possible benefit of cloud based data storage
system.
• Lack of planning can also lead the company to loose
the most valuable information.
Recommendation:
• Introduction of strong back up policy is highly needed
to retrieve the data as required.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
• Lack of proficient method of working can make it difficult for the IT
department of Sunoco Inc. to cope up with the new process.
• This can also result in significant cultural obstacles, which is also a great
challenge in managing the cloud based data storage method (Matthews et
al., 2018).
Recommendation:
A strong organizational culture is needed to be introduced for the sake of
creating positive environment, which is the key of stimulating positive
behavior among the staffs.

Training activities Training must also be provided to the staffs in order to enable them to adapt
with the new system. Therefore, Sunoco Inc. must conduct in-depth software
training to the staffs. This can help in enabling the staffs to cope up with
cloud based data management system.

• Detailed software training must be provided to the staffs of IT department.
