INTRODUCTION
Working with leading people is essential for organisation to process corporate work
which aids to attain the goals and objectives. It aids the management of corporation to achieve
better income and revenues by hiring skilled and talented applicants (Cook, 2016). Purple mail
(PM) is courier corporation which offers logistics services to consumers in the United Kingdom.
The present report describes about documents needed during selection of people. Further, it
assess the impact of legal, regulatory and ethical considerations for recruitment and selection. It
introduces skills and attributes for leadership in the PM corporation. In addition to this, it
represents comparison of different leadership styles for various situations. It explains the benefits
of team working for company. It states effectiveness of team in achieving goals for corporation.
Further, it describes important factors which are associated for monitoring of work performance
at the workplace. It evaluate success of assessment process in the Purple mail corporation.
1.1 Preparing the documentation towards selection and recruitment process
Generally, there are many documentation required for selection and increment process in
the organization. As per case study, hiring process of corporation is poor due to considerations of
poor practices. So HR managers of PM corporation has to aware about those things at the
workplace. In this process, they have to prepare lot of documentation for these activities in the
organisation (Krebsbach, 2015). Firstly, management of PM can give advertisement of present
vacancies through references, newspapers as well as website advertisement. In addition to this,
they can make appropriate time schedule to implement these action like interviews as well as
written test at proper location. Further, they have to prepare job description and make annual
packages for candidates for better recruitment and selection.
Along with this, management of PM also requires various documents like educational
certificates, professional experience letter as well as further achievements of candidates.
Generally, these documents are necessary for organisation to recruit and select better staff at the
workplace. Further, it helps the PM to analyse skill and abilities of candidates which support the
organisation better decision regarding selection and recruitment. So documentation towards
selection and recruitment process helps the organisation to reduce its present issues in a
systematic manner (Raffaele and Connell, 2016).

1.2 Assessing the effect of legal, regulatory and ethical considerations to the recruitment and
selection process for the PM Company
Effect of legal, regulatory and ethical considerations create positive impact on
recruitment and selection process for PM organist. It provides proper flexibility to manage its
operations by taking guidance from rules and regulation and policies. In addition to this, equality
act, proper employment policies helps the organisation to select appropriate candidates
(Bellantuono and Gonos, 2016). By maintaining transparency, management of PM can recruit
and hire better candidates which can help to reduce turnover of employees as per case study.
Considerations of these rules and regulations support the organisation to develop business
strategies with help of them at the workplace.
In addition to this, it can play important role for management of PM to increase
efficiency and performance as comparison of previous years (Boone 2015). For example, sex
discrimination act provides better opportunities to select candidates without creating any
discrimination on the basis of Gender. Further, Equal pay act 2010 supports the PM corporation
to avoid discrimination on the basis of pay scale for same cadre employees. This rule can help
the firm to motivate the present and new staff regarding work. It can help the organisation to
increase its efficiency and performance in a appropriate manner. On the other side, legal, ethical
considerations, regularities policies create complexities due to presence of many rules and
regulations which consumes so much time (Kramer and Mauro, 2016). They requires lot of
paper work which create affect on other business operations, recruitment and selection activities
of PM corporation.
1.3 and 1.4 Evaluating the your contribution for selection process for organisation
Being Human resource manager, I was also part of selection procedures in the
organization. I contributed important role for firm to select the suitable candidates which are
described below in the points.
Development of recruiting strategies: In this process, I made proper plan to implement
these activities in the PM organization. In addition to this, I also designed proper criteria for
company to select candidates for interviews. Further, I categorised whole interview process in
written test, group discussion and main interviews for candidates in the organization.
Providing guidance: I provided guidance to my employees regarding preparation of
selection and recruitment activities. This process also helped management of PM corporation to

handle its operations by reducing all issues and problems in a systematic manner (Inman and
Horton, 2015). In addition to this, it also aided the corporation to increase its working speed and

Monitoring: Being Human resource manager, I was monitoring each and every activities
regarding recruitment and selection in the PM organization. This step helped the organisation to
reduce chances of mistakes which also decreases probability of rework. In addition to this, it
supported the PM corporation to manage its present work in a appropriate manner.
Communication with candidates: I took final interviews of selected candidates which
aided me to analyse skills like communication, leadership, decision making as well as problem
solving skills of candidates in PM organization. Along with this, I also interacted with technical
managers to find out its professional knowledge level of candidates in the firm. This strategy
aided the organisation to select appropriate applicants for corporation at the workplace (Larsen
and Rasmussen, 2015). Further, I also decided final packages of candidates by evaluating their
knowledge and information level.
Allocation of roles and responsibilities: I allocated roles and responsibilities to
employees and other managers regarding selection and recruitment activities. This process also
supported the corporation to manage its these operations. In addition to this, it also helped the
PM organisation to increase efficiency as well as performance at the workplace.

2.1 Defining the skills and attributes needed for leadership for organisation
As per case study, Management of corporation is required many skills and attributes for
leadership which helps to manage its logistics operations.
Communication skills: It plays important role for corporation its employees to manage
its operations (Herrero, Moreno-Jiméne and Van Dierendonck, 2014). For example, It helps the
leaders to listen their ideas, concepts, views along with opinions of team members and senior
managers in PM organization. So communication skills helps the organization to take better
decisions which are necessary for better leadership. In addition to this, it helps the corporation to
manage logistics and courier operations.
Time management skills: Time management is important skill which aids to manage
workload in the team (Bush and Middlewood, 2013). For example, allocation of project,
assigning priorities and roles and responsibilities regarding work helps to increase efficiency and

productivity of PM organisation. So Time management capabilities are necessary for leaders
which aids to manage its actions at the workplace.
Problem solving skills: It can aid the management of PM corporation for better
leadership in the team. For example, this ability can help the sort out personal as well as
projected related complexities among the staff members. In addition to this, problem solving
skills the helps the PM corporation to increase sharing skills among employees (Mendenhall and
Osland, 2012).
2.2 Explaining the difference between leadership and management.
There is a lot of difference between leadership and management skills which gives
appropriate understanding to PM organization to manage their corporate work and other
operations.

Autocratic leadership style: In this leadership, managers of corporation do not include its
employees in decision making process. As per case study, management of PM corporation also
use autocratic leadership which increases its turnover of staff. For example, organisation can use
this style in emergency situation to provide better facilities to consumer and manage other
operations (Stanleigh, 2013). Other wise, it can demotivate the staff members regarding
corporate work which reduces innovative skills.
Democratic leadership style: In this process, management of PM corporation associates
its employees to take appropriate decisions by arranging proper meeting. This approach can help
the organisation to create positive impact on the staff members at the workplace. For example,
managers of PM corporation can consider this style in regular operations which can help the to

can aid the organisation to motivate the staff members regarding work at the workplace.

staff members to take self decision which can aid to increase confidence level. In addition to this,
it also enhances the knowledge and information level of employees at the workplace. For
example, managers of PM organisation can consider leadership style in high workload situations
which can help them to handle divisional work in a systematic manner (Day and Burbach, 2015).
2.4 Explaining ways to motivate staff to achieve objectives
As per present case study, management of PM corporation can follow effective
motivation theories to motivate staff at the workplace. This strategy can aid the corporation to
achieve its goals and objectives in present sector.
According to case scenario, managers of PM organisation can consider Maslow
motivation theory which can contribute effectively to inspire the staff members (Lawrence and
White, 2013). This theory helps the organisation to meet out psychological, safety and esteem
and self actualization level need and requirements at the workplace. In addition to this, it can
motivate the employees by internally and externally by providing better offers like appreciation
letters, salary, bonus as well as incentives. In addition to this, these activities increases interest

appropriate manner. Further, they also increases loyalty and trust towards PM corporation which
can aid to reduce staff turnover at the workplace.

PM corporation have advantages of team working which can aid to handle team work at
the workplace. Some of them are described below in the points.

whether employees are able to attain objectives and goals or not in the organisation.
Furthermore, Assessment of staff performance can be conducted through 360 degree appraisal

affecting company and this can be resolved through various training program along with
motivational tools that can be considered (Larsen and Rasmussen, 2015). This has supported
each and every individual within the workplace and has encouraged them to take part in major
affairs of PM company. Apart from this, the present assessment process being developed has
focused on development needs such as skills and areas where individual is not at all performing
better. It has somehow supported in dealing with the issue of ineffective management along with
leadership. Apart from this, leaders within the workplace are working with full motivation level
and they are able to manage large number of individuals within the workplace. Moreover,
through this overall productivity of PM company has enhanced at faster pace where organization
is able to accomplish its desired aims and objectives (Herrero, Moreno-Jiménez and Van
Dierendonck, 2014). Apart from this, every employee within the workplace is fully motivated as
individual is receiving monetary along with non monetary benefits. Further, the training sessions
being undertaken has assisted in enhancing the knowledge level of the staff members where they
are able to apply various skills within the workplace and this has also benefited PM company in
every possible manner.

From the report, it is found that documentation of recruitment and selection process helps
the PM corporation to manage its activities. Furthermore, legal and ethical considerations creates
positive impact on the recruitment and selection process. In addition to this, Leadership style
helps the managers and leaders of corporation to guide the employees at the workplace. Maslow
motivation theory helps the management of enterprise to motivate their staff members. Benefits
of team working also support the PM corporation to achieve its goals and objectives. It can be
concluded that behavioral checklists and 360 degree approach contribute effectively for
