INTRODUCTION
Employability skills refers to the skills and abilities of an person that makes him eligible
for the vacant jobs in various companies. These are the special skills which are also known as
foundation abilities. Basically these are the skills and attitudes that enable a person in getting
along with other people and accomplish the designated task in a set period of time.
Employability or soft skills act as a foundation for an individual career (Andrews and Russell,
2012). They enable a person in performing task with more efficiency and effectiveness. Also it
reduces cost for organisation as they do not have to train individual if they already have set of
abilities. This report is based on analysing various skills that are required in health and social
care organisation such as, Wellington hospital. This project will cover various aspect that will be
required to gain more skills and abilities to achieve career goals.

Responsibilities:
There are certain responsibilities that need to be fulfilled by me at my position
of nurse in Wellington Hospital. There are various responsibilities listed below
which are completed by me:
Gaining trust and confidence of patient.
Preparing patient care plans.
Implementation of plans as per schedule, (mentally preparing patients
for operations, wound treatment, monitoring heartbeat, BP and
temperature of patient).
Observing and recording condition of different patients.
Administer whole process of medication

Assist patients and doctors in test and evaluations.
In case of emergencies, responding quickly.
Carrying out routine investigations.
Advocating on behalf of patients
Updating and educating patients about their health and other aspect of
whole process.
Organising whole staff and managing workload effectively.
Making various ethical decisions related with secrecy and consent of
patient.
Performance objectives:
These are the targets which are set as to attain long term goals. They enable an
individual in identifying various objectives which will lead him to the path of
success. The performance objective for Nurse are as follows:
Increasing the satisfaction level of patients and their families.
Improving the response time in case of emergencies.
Dealing with critical cases more effectively.
Enhancing knowledge of new methods.
Speeding up decision making for critical cases.
Increasing the number of programs run for educating and updating
patients regarding their health.
Boosting the level of skills as to administer the whole process
medication in a more effective manner.

There are different methods that can be adopted to evaluate my own skills
against various performance objectives. This will assist in analysing my own
effectiveness against the set standards:
Feedback from individuals (360 degree feedback) (appendix1): There
are many people who work in hospital or visit it for getting cured.
Feedback from them regarding various aspect of my own performance
will assist in getting reviews regarding my effectiveness which can be
measured with performance objectives. Feedback from patients and
their families will provide information regarding my end performance
