1.0 INTRODUCTION
A skill audit is a process of measuring and recording the skills of an
individual or group of people. The main purpose of this is to identify the skills
and knowledge of the person so that they are able to analyse it and take
various steps so that it can be better implemented. These are done so that
training needs of the people can identified and will enable to improve for
further requirements. This audit practice gather more information than
simply the employees current qualifications level. This report will help in the
analysing the skills that are required by the people so that they are able to
raise fund for Mental health research group UK which was developed for
charity purpose. Also it will cover the development of skills and will show
individual contribution and the key skills that are required for employment
skills for business should be considered.
2.0 Audit and Evaluation of Key Skills
2.1 Examination and development of skills through the formative exercise.
Educating the employees, doing vocational training and lifelong
learning are main central pillars of employability. Skills development is the
key so as to stimulate a sustainable development process that will help in
contribution of facilitating the conversion from informal to formal work
culture within the organisation (Assiter, 2017). Skill development is essential
to address the opportunities and challenges so as to meet the demands of
raising funds for Mental health organisation UK. The principles and values of
work provide a theme so that design of skills development are efficiently
managed for organisational goals.
Choosing Mental Health Research UK for raising of funds so that social
cause can be achieved for mentally disturbed people is our motive.
Investment in mental health research is a small campaign but it helps in
achieving most for the society. As Mental Health research UK uses this fund
for appropriate research with other charities who are also engaged in mental
health.

This assessment helps in building knowledge among the people related
with lack of mental interest. As it is known that in the current scenario
people with mental health problems are not treated as good as related with
other health problems (Burns and Sinfield, 2012). This assignment helped in
developing various skills so that I was able to achieve the objective of
building and increasing my skills. With the help of working in team I got to
know the skills that were hidden inside me and also helped each other in
increasing them. While working on this project I got to know about how the
team work, communication, doing research, decision making while doing
research, problem solving, organisation and time management helps the
team to better conclude the desired project. These skills are elaborated
below:
Teamwork: This is the main skill that was developed by the me while
working on this project. As when a group of people works on the same
project it is important for them to collaborate the thinking in the same
direction. It was examined that all the people while working were
listening to each other and were helping each other which is the main
motive of doing work in a team. This skill was evolved within me as
and when the work process was increased.
Communication: It is the skill that is developed by individual so that
they are able to effectively communicate with the listener
(.Salomonson, Åberg and Allwood, 2012). This is the skill that helps in
better implementation of the spoken word to the listener. For a team to
achieve the target of completing the given project on time they should
target on better and free communication. As it was examined in the
present case I was able to develop the skill of communication as all the
team members were easily able to understand the work done by me
and were able to make out the desired results.
Planning: It is the one of the important and first and foremost part of
a project that should be done. Planning the research is important not
for the members but also for individuals so that they are able to

achieve the desired goal related to project. As while working on project
I was able to develop my skill of planning (Carter, Austin and Trainor,
2012). Planning the work and dividing the work was important as it
helped in getting the required information on time, as all the members
were working on different subtask so it helped in achieving the target
on time.
Decision making: Decision making is regarded as a cognitive process
that results in selecting one possibilities out of various other
possibilities available. This is also regarded as the final choice that has
to be made by the member while working in team so that final
outcome is concluded in a way that is required. While working on this
assessment I got the chance of making decision as I had a better
decision making skill. It also helped in bringing confidence within me.
Time management: It is a tool that is used to organise and plan how
to divide your time between specific activities. Good time management
helps in achieving the target on the desired time. While working
together as a team it was seen that time was managed easily and the
project was completed on the desired time. It resulted in less stress
among members and increased opportunity to recheck our project.
2.2 Assessment of Individual contribution and overall team performance.
It is important for members to check and evaluate the individual
contribution to the project and overall team performance so that teamwork
can be enhanced. Assessing teams improves gaols attainment, enriches
relationships and enhances performance of individuals (Rosenberg, Heimler
and Morote, 2012). For assessing the work it should be known that both
individuals and team performance should be checked.
My role and contribution to the project includes, first of all deciding on
the option of the organisation given whether to choose Teenage cancer trust
or to choose Mental Health Research UK so as to support fund raising. I was
the one who suggested the ideas that helped in identifying the ways to raise
3

fund. While doing the research it was analysed by me that who will be the
target contributors so as to raise money. The idea to hold an event that will
help in getting people involved in project was selected by me. It was decided
by me to print some donation forms that would be signed by donators. I
organised a election process within the team that helped us selecting
organisation for raising donation (Cottrell, 2013). All these were contribution
made by me so as to do the assessment and achieve target of fund raising.
Successful team workers learn from each other through thought
processes. Teamwork has a great effect on individual performance.
Assessment of team performance helps in ensuring equitable contributions
and identify areas for individuals or collective improvement. Various
strategies that helps in assessing team performance includes:
Render clear and understandable team goals.
Identify quality work and successful standards.
strategies that were implemented to increase performance of
members.
As it was assessed that members in team working in good relation with each
other and were able to bring into consensus the ideas that were generated in
each other mind. All the members in the team work working in a way that
was helping in increasing team performance and confidence within the
members. They also helped in improving the quality of learning among
themselves.
2.3 Demonstration of Skills development within me while working on the
project.
While working on this project I was able to develop various skills that
would last forever with me and would help me in achieving future
responsibilities (Robles, 2012). While being included in the project and going
to Alina job place I got to know various skills that were required to be
developed and to be polished more. As we dedicated one full day to make
fresh sandwiches and fresh juice which were served to employees my

cooking skills were also developed. Various skills that I got to develop
includes:
Communication skills: As we were working on the process of raising
fund for Mental health research UK it was important for us to make the
donators to understand the requirement of funding so that people who
are mentally ill will get a better treatment (Falola, Osibanjo and Ojo,
2014). It is the main source that is required by each and every member
so that other people who are listing to them can interpret it in a better
and more reliable way. As I was able to achieve and develop the
communication skills it will help me to better communicate with others
in near future. For example I got to know that my skill was developed
when employees in Alina job place were able to understand the need
to donate the funds for mental health research UK. They were
appreciating the noble cause and were purchasing the sandwiches and
juice that were prepared for them.
Researching skills: This was the skill that was most developed within
me while I was working on this project. Researching includes critical
analysis about the topic and the way that it would be done so that final
objective can be achieved (Farrall, 2013). It includes the checking the
statistics of the given research problem and making a conclusion from
it. As this research is done on both qualitative and quantitative form it
helped in developing the skill to acquire the qualitative data within me.
I was able to analyse the data that was researched through which my
data analysis skills were also developed.
Problem solving skills: This skills was developed in me while doing
the assessment within team. As solving problems includes various
aspects such as solving individual members problems, solving conflict
problems among members, solving problems relating to achieving the
targets of project on time. This was developed in me as I tried to solve
problem that arose among the member when they were arguing with

each other on a particular matter and I helped them to solve the
problem.
Organising events: While working on this project I was able to
develop my skills of organising the events. As this is the basic skills
that are required by any member while working for raising money for
charitable purpose. It was analysed by me the skill was developed
when I was organising the event in Alina place of work. The event was
fully organised by me and it was also successful. People were
encouraging it and were contributing the money for the social cause of
supporting mental health research UK.
2.3 Reflection of Experiences in the team project.
During my time on doing the project it was found that I have learned
various things that contributed to development of my personal skills. By
reflecting at the things we will be looking back at something which has
happened so as to show what has been learnt from it (Ju, Zhang and Pacha,
2012). As for explaining my experience while doing the project I have used
Gibbs model of reflection because it will show the reflection in a best way.
Gibbs model contains Description, Feelings, Evaluation, analysis, conclusion
and action plan for doing the project. My experience for working on the
project is given below:
Description: I was working on project of fund raising for Mental health
research UK. I was working with my team members on this project and
while doing the assignment I got various experience. I would like to
share one experience which occurred while we were selling fresh
sandwich and juice to employees in Alina's place. As it was difficult
task I had to influence the employees so as to purchase sandwich to
contribute for mental health research UK. While speaking to the
employees about the social cause I got too nervous and was
stammering. The employees were mature enough to understand that I
6
Document Page
was doing this for the first time and understood that it was for a social
cause.
Feeling: while conversing with the employees I felt so miserable that I
thought it is important for me to increase my communication skills. I
thought that I had not prepared my speech in correct and better
manner. I also realised that it was natural as this was my first time to
converse with the employees who were older than me and were more
mature.
Evaluation: As the session of conversing with the ended I started to
evaluated the things that I spoked when I was conversing with
employees. I analysed that most of the things that I spoke to the
employees were not related to the topic and were not that positive
which could have influenced them to donate more funds as required.
So I evaluated that my communication skill should be more polished so
that I could converse with people in a better way.
2.4 Qualitative and Quantitative evidences that helped me in doing the
project.
This project helped me In developing my skills in better way and I was
able to smoothen them as and when the project continued to the last stage.
For making this project successful various data collection tools were used
such as qualitative data collection tools and quantitative data collection
tools. As the feedbacks from the peers were taken so as to decide the venue
for organising our event of selling sandwiches and juices (Lee and Carter,
2012). After deciding this the target was set by the team so as to raise
minimum amount of money which would be donated to the Mental health
research UK. This was done by using Quantitative data. While deciding on
the option to raise money for we used the statistics that around 10% of the
children and young people has a clinically diagnosable metal health problem.

Conclusion
From the above report it is concluded that learning is important part of
student life. Every student should do a skill audit so that he can evaluate the
skills that are required to be polished and the skills that are required to be
developed. By doing the skills audit a person can check as to what are the
key competencies that are build inside him and the requirements of
developing the skills. A person should plan a personal development plan so
that they are able to achieve the targeted skills required.
