INTRODUCTIONHuman resource development is a very important factor that plays a significant role in thecompany. It is basically a framework that helps the workers in developing their personal andorganisational skills, ability to do work and knowledge as well. An employee always wants thattheir employer should initiate human resource development programs in the organisation so thatthey get a chance to grow (Beck, 2011). The activities that are included in Human resourcedevelopment are career development of employees, training of employees, development ofcompany etc. development of human resources can be both formal as well as informal as it canbe initiated both inside and outside the organisation. In this report, the concept of HRD will beunderstood with reference to HSBC bank . It is the world's largest financial organisation which isdealing with banking and wealth management. It is doing its operations since 1865. This reportwill help in understanding different learning styles, role of learning curve and the importance oftransferring learning at workplaces, evaluation of a training event and also the government ledskill development initiatives. TASK 11.1 Different learning stylesThe market has become so competitive now-r-days that if a company wants to remain inthe competition then they will have to develop themselves by making good plans and policies ofthe organisation. Through this the company will be able to bring so many changes . But to makesuch plans, learning is very important. A famous theorist named David Kolb has derived fourbasic type of learning styles that are very common in a workplace :-Assimilating- These type of learners are more logical and analytical. They require logicalexplanation for each and every action that is going on in an organisation. In HSBC, theemployees are less dependent on each other and they believe more in logics and materialsfor taking any decision (DENG, ZHANG and LI, 2013). Accommodating – These type of learners examine the findings of other people and makea decision which is purely based on intuition. These type of learning is best suited whenany kind of opportunities is arise in the bank. So, if this style will be applied and any suchopportunity comes in HSBC bank then the employees will take the decision based onintuitions and not logics. 2

Diverging – in this learning style the learners do not make any decision and and in-spiteof this they observe different actions and ideas of other people. If this learning style willbe applied in HSBC then the people will be happy in idea generating environment andthey are not interested in decision making much (Feng and et. al., 2014). Converging – This is considered as one of the best learning style which can be applied ina company. In this the learner makes decisions also and provides practical solutions alsofor the problems of the organisation. If HSBC has to include any such type of learningtheory then they should include this one as this will only provide benefits for thecompany. 1.2 Role of learning curve & the importance of transferring learningLearning curve plays a very significant role in the learning process that is going on in thecompany. Through this the company is able to show the record of the overall performance of theemployees. Basically, it is said that if learning is not implemented or used then it is of no use.The managers of HSBC is making use of various learning styles which will help them inachieving goals and objectives of the organisation. Role of Learning Curve - Normally, learning curve is used by the companies to measureas well as analyse the performance of the employees in the company. It is a graphicalrepresentation of the performance of the employees in reference to the time they spent whiledoing the work and the competencies they have achieved while applying the learning process. Ifthe managers of HSBC wants to make the maximum use of its resources then they mustencourage the employees to do their work in more effective way. The importance of transferring learning at workplace:-It is considered the responsibility of the managers of the company to transfer good learning in anorganisation. If the manager comes to know that the employees is lacking some important skillsand knowledge then it is their duty to provide them good training so that they learn thoserequired skills (Fuhua, 2011). This will help them in increase their profits as well as productivityof the company and also the capabilities of employees as well. It is necessary that the learningprocess should be interested so that the employees is able to learn in an effective way and theyattend the whole session with full motivation. 3
