INTRODUCTION Human resource management is a separate specialized function engaged into processof recruitment, selection, training & development, performance management and rewardingemployees of the firm. Their main objective lies in effective utilization of the human capitalwithin the firm so that goals are successfully met (Gold, 2009). The present research studyalso pays attention towards effective HRM and its principles within two organizations i.e.Chocolate presence and Microsoft. The report will evaluate the purpose of human resourcemanagement, significance, current problems and future plans for the growth. Strength andweakness of different approaches to selection as well as potential improvements will also bediscussed. The second part of the firm will focus on benefits of graduate training schemes andinternship programs of Microsoft and will evaluate flexible working arrangement and itsbenefits within the firm. The final section of the study will throw light motivation through jobdesign and will discuss various approaches to employee engagement and employee relation. SECTION – 1 TASK – 1 Definition of HRM Speaking in relation with the HRM, it is systematic practice of hiring, recruiting,organizing and effective management of workers within the firm (Human resourcemanagement (HRM), 2018). The HR department of the Chocolate presence is responsible fordeveloping, implementing and overseeing the policies that governs the employees. It is alsoaccountable to maintain healthy and cordial relationship amid the workers and the firm. Explaining function activities of HRM in Chocolate presence The HR department of the Chocolate presence carries out different vital functions andsome of them are as follows: Recruitment & selection – This function is very intricate to the firm wherein it isresponsible for recruiting and hiring efficient candidates for the required job position.Different methods are being adopted such as promotion, transfer, assessment test,professional organizations and employee referrals to recruit and select the workers(Raymond, 2002). Human Resource planning – Again this is also a vital function that helps Chocolatepresence to forecast the current as well as future demand of the workers within the1

firm. Arrangements in relation with the human asset is made in advance so thatexisting processes and working activities within the firm is not affected. Further, rightworkers are placed at the right time and place with this function.Compensation & rewards – Workers need motivation to perform better. The Humanresource department of the company ensures that reasonable amount of compensationand rewards are being offered to the employees with superior performance so thatthey remain motivated and contributes effectively towards the achievement of theorganizational goals (Kirton and Greene, 2015). Training and development – Training and development is also proved to be asignificant function of Chocolate presence. With the support of this function in place,skills, competencies and abilities of the workers are improved and enhanced. Thereare some areas that needs more improvement and development. These are determinedby this function and polished for better performance in future. Performance management – This function of the HR department helps in measuringthe performance level of staff members in Chocolate presence. Based on the identifiedlevel of performance, recognition and rewards are being offered to them. If anyproblems are determined than corrective actions and related feedback is also given tothe employees so that their way of doing tasks within the firm can be enhanced andimproved (Guest, 2012). Overall purpose and significance of HRM in Chocolate presence Focusing about the overall purpose of HRM in chocolate presence, it is mainly relatedwith development and management of human capital within the firm through comprehensionof their demands, wants and desires. Seeking help from this, the firm is able to recruitefficient and skilful employees on board that leads them to succeed in this competitivemarket. Further, this function also drives to train and develop the employees so that theirperformance can improve and they can attain the organization objectives (Arthur, 2004).Other than this, it also help in maximizing the use of the human asset with least possiblecosts. Thus, it can be said that HRM in an all plays a very crucial role in the firm byformulating strategic plans, practices, processes and strategies for managing and developingthe most valuable asset of the company. 2
