to take some initiatives.Such that the manager only provide guidance to their employees. On the other side, the leaders usestransactional leadership theoryin which leaders of the firm lay emphasis on their relations with the followers and they also provide rewards and punishments in order to motivate their followers. In this approach the leaders also develops the existing organizational culture and they follow bureaucratic leadership style. 2. Role of leader and function of manager under two different situations with using theories There are various theory that helps to describe the role of leader and function of a manager and using the above mentioned theory, Vodafone's leader and manager can easily solve the issues: For example, 1.Conflicts between employees:There is a situation of conflicts between employees in Vodafone. The employees do not feel well in the organisation and have some difficulties regarding the work pressure, trust, inefficient compensation system etc. In this situation the manager and leader have to solve the problem of their employees and help them to set their mind according to the policies of organisation (Hasegawa and NEC 2017). Leaders who avoid conflicts at all cost will find themselves regretting it later. Timing is everything when it comes to solve the conflicts. Leader has to wait for the right time to solve the problem of employees. Manager can take action on the right time when there is proof or evidence that an employee has track record of wrong doing things that is negatively impact on other employees. Leader can fire that type of employees who make the situation of conflicts and reduce the overall productivity of organisation. Situational leadership theory:This theory of leadership lays its focus on resolving the conflicts among the employees at the workplace in an effective manner. There are some employees in the organisation that work and function in a better way under the leadership of such a leader who is having a bossy attitude and focus on giving directions to others (Hitomi, 2017). In Vodafone, employees prefer working under the leadership of such person who is having ability of resolving conflicts that arise at the workplace. Leaders in Vodafone are successful, because they adopt an innovative style of working and focus on giving something new in the corporate world. This leadership theory also tells and provide different leadership style which should be opted by the manager or leader at different situation such as: ï·Telling:In this style, the leader is required to tell the people what they are required to do in situation of conflicts. ï·Selling:In this style, leaders sell their ideas as well as messages to get group members into a
process and involved them in order to achieve the target of a firm. Leader is required to establish communication with the employees in order to get the work done from them by insisting them rather than, simply giving them directions. ï·Participating:In this, leader offer fewer directions and also allow the members in order to be more active and aggressive at the workplace. He also come up with different ideas and also making decision for the welfare of the firm. ï·Delegating:In this case, the leaders not only take the responsibilities but also, delegate the assigned tasks to the subordinates, in order to get the work done in a timely manner. Not only this, a responsible leader also oversees the work which has been assigned to its subordinates. 2.Introduction of new plan:In this situation, the leader of Vodafone clearly identify whether the introduction of new plan will be helpful to maximizes the profit while on the other side, managers of the company assign different duties to a department. Like sales and marketing department has to promote the plan with large group so that they will let know about new plan. While on the other situation manager also closely observe at every situation that the assigned duties are performed in well manner or not. Therefore, at this type leader has to adopt leadership style in order to make the plan successful in market by using system theory. System Theory:In this the organization structure is considered as a complex system in which the firm functioned that are further been carried out accordingly. Further it also creates such condition in which the people at all level can work in more productive way because they have a potential which may help to lead a system at further level of success. This theory also creates models such as good leadership style, the best strategy for an organization that also helpful for social process. Through help of system theory manager and leaders can solve the problem.
