INTRODUCTION
The concept of operations management is said to a business function that ensures use of
material, labour, technology and others in best effective manner to maximise output. It is
responsible to create goods and services that targetted population wants. It serves as engine room
of enterprise to survive and sustain in dynamic marketplace. To gain knowledge of management
and operations, chosen company is Boots Plc which is leading beauty together with heath retailer
that have around 2500 stores to assist customers to look as well as feel better than they have ever
thought possible (Boots Plc, 2020). It was founded in 1849 through John Boot and its
headquarters are established at Beeston, UK.
The present report includes discussion of differences between manager and leader,
examples about the ways leaders apply roles and managers executes functions in distinct
situations. Further, certain theories of approaches are applied along with key operations
management approaches. At last, it assesses various factors that have potentials to impact
decision making along with managing operations.

Definition of leader
A leader is someone who makes people work and achieve the desired goal of an
organisation (Anand and Gray, 2017). Leader is responsible for keeping people united towards
the work and have connection with people to be successful in achievement of goals. In Boots Plc,
leaders mainly have focuses on development of teams strength and improve their weaknesses.
Here leader is also identifies team goals and accordingly evaluated team progress.
Definition of manager
A manager is a person who has expertise in his or her field and a support system for
employees working in a company. Managers are present at all departments of an organisation to
manage the people according to their projects and tasks (Babich and Hilary, 2020). In Boots Plc,
a manager mainly focuses on training and development of people working at different
departments and sets the goals which are aligned with organisational objective.
