INTRODUCTION
Accommodation is an absolutely wide sector of the hospitality industry ranging from bed
and breakfast enterprises and hotels to other facilities that offer lodging services. Managing
accommodation services is quite necessary for every organization. In this present report, Hilton
Hotel will be chosen for assessment. Hilton hotel is one of the well-known international brands
of full hotel and resort services.
This assignment also helps to identify scale and size of accommodation services within
hospitality industry as well as it will discuss the role of necessary items which are required for
the smooth functioning of hotel. Report describes front office functions and the key role of
housekeeping department. Moreover, report asses the significance of forecasting linen stock in
order to make sure the supply is meet with demand and then identifying the relationship of
housekeeping with another department of hotel. Lastly, study describe the importance of
scheduling maintenance to minimize the disruption and importance of security in hotel.

Housekeeping is very important department in Hilton Hotel as well as in other hotels too. The
main function is the make sure that hotel premises should be cleaned, comfort, privacy, health
and hygiene in safe environment (Noe and et.al., 2017). It is fact that the first impression is the
last impression of every guest as if hotel rooms are not cleaned as it is not possible to retain the
customers.
Executive Housekeeping director: They are the managers who are responsible for the
total cleanliness as well as aesthetic upkeep of the premises. They also ensure the excellent in
housekeeping sanitation safety conform for the guest of hotel. Further, they are also responsible
for presenting budget of the management for housekeeping department.
Deputy House Keeper: The person who is responsible for the public areas are cleaned
on timely basis so that the area surrounded by hotel must be cleaned and safety so that health and
safety of guest would be maintained. They are responsible for the prepare the schedule of staff
and duty rotas. All the responsibilities of maintaining stock and equipment’s are also maintained
by them.
Floor Supervisor: They are responsible for up-keepment of the guest floor and must be
ensure that the premises should be cleaned. They also allow to issue floor keys to the attendant of
room, supervising the cleaning of spring as well as report the need of maintenance on floor.
Evening Shift supervisor: They are responsible for checking all the entries in log book
which hotel used to follow. Further they are also accountable to check the cleaning services in
occupied rooms.
Night Supervisor: The duties played by night supervisor is to ensure the safety and
security hazards. They are also responsible for organizing the distinct cleaning of rooms along
with public areas.
Gardner: Every hotel has gardens and lawn, so it is very important to maintain the
greener of the garden. They are also a most important department function which is responsible
to maintain the garden areas, landscape of hotel and lawn in the premises. Further, they are
responsible to take care of indoor plant and watering of plants daily (Baggio, Czakon and
Mariani, 2016).

Linen stock is one which is the standard amount of inventory which is required to make

of laundry are very important for the organisation for smooth supply of services to customers. It
is very important to forecast the linen stock within organisation, it is because of several reason
which are as follows-
Prevent Overstocking: This is the fundamental importance of forecasting of linen stock, it
is because overloaded of stock in the organisation leads to wastage and it also raises the cost of
operations. So, it is very important to prevent overstocking by forecasting the linen stock.
Ensure proper supply chain management: In order to maintain the supply chain
management, it is very important to forecast the stock which is required so that customers need
and demands are efficiently forecasted (Waterman, 2017).
Optimum Utilisation of resources: By forecasting the linen stock it becomes easy and
efficient to ensure the optimum utilisation of resources without any wastage. By forecasting the
stock, the issue of overstocking comes to end and it leads to fully utilisation of stock.
Better Customer Satisfaction: Customer satisfaction is very important in hotel sector it
is because hospitality industry do not have any product to satisfy their customers. The
satisfaction level is depending on the services they are providing. Thus, the services are provided
in desire manner without in interruptions. Thus, for gaining high level of customer satisfaction, it
is important to forecast the stock.
P8 Importance of interrelationships between housekeeping and other departments.
It is very important to make an effective relationship with all department. There are mainly
five department in hospitality industry which are Front Housekeeping, Front-house department,
Human Resource, Food and Beverages, Sales and Marketing etc. These all department work
unitedly with the housekeeping department which are as follows-
Housekeeping Department with Front Office Department: It is fact that front office
department cannot able to work in isolation or without taking support from house keeping
department. Housekeeping department ensure the cleanliness at the area of front of area, so that
hygiene is maintain. It also leads to positive impact on the mind of customers (Medlik, 2016).
Housekeeping Department and Food and Beverage: Cleanliness is most sensitive
element in the food and beverage department. Thus, housekeeping department plays a very
important role as they ensure the cleanliness in the restaurant areas so that visitors could feel
comfortable in eating food. For example- looking after the pest control to kill the mosquitos and
germs.

Housekeeping Department and Marketing Department: Housekeeping and marketing
department also work in the coordination as housekeeping department used to take information
about the needs and demands of customer’s so that they provide services accordingly.
Housekeeping Department and Purchase Department: Purchase department used to
procure out of stock items for housekeeping. For example, amenities, stationery linen, tools and
equipment’s (McCartney, 2017). All the requirement must be conveying to purchase department
through notice so that further action could be taken.

Scheduling is very important to minimize the disruption in the operations and functions of
the hotel. It is very essential that management should planned each and everything in very
systematic way so that the will be no wastage of resources as well as fully utilisation of
manpower. Schedule is the lab which take place at a specific time. Scheduling is very important
to minimise the disruption.
Here are the importance of Scheduling maintenance to minimise the disruption which are as
follows-
Scheduling influences the entire finances of the hotel. In order to manage the resources in
very effective way, it is important to schedule the resources in very effective manner. Managers
also ensure the additional resources needed in the operations for completing the work.
Quality of the services is improved by scheduling the work as through scheduling the
roles and responsibilities and all the things are effectively manage and clear which in turn
improved the quality of services and minimise the disruption (Green and McCarthy, 2015).
Scheduling also avoid delays and late works as through making plans and strategies, the
task allotted is completed without any disruption.
Scheduling is the baseline for getting success and it is true. It is true that if there is not
specific strategies and planning, no one could achieve success. So, it in order to achieve success,
it is important to schedule the activities and task. The reason for the success of Hilton hotel in
global level is only because of proper schedule.
Scheduling also raised the customer satisfaction as they will get services as per there
demand and expectation (Amin, Rahim and Idris, 2017). If scheduling is not done by managers
than the customer satisfaction level is greatly influences in negative way.

Safety is the essence in the hospitality industry especially in hotels. The visitors who
comes to a hotel, comes with an understating that they will be safe as well as secure during
during their stay. Hotel organisation should have to hire the employees for security (Steinhardt,
2017). Thus, it is very important for the management of hotel to ensure the safety and security in
the hotel which are as follows-
Security prevent the damage of property.
The chances of crime is control and removed by ensuring the safe and security at
work place.
It also protects the staff members of hotel as well as people living near the hotel.
By implementing strict security system in the hotel raises the customer
satisfaction which in turn raise the revenue of the hotel.

The above report concludes that managing accommodation services is quite necessary for
every organization. The report also concludes the size and scale of accommodation in United
Kingdom. Further, the ownership available in accommodation services was also included in this
assignment. Housekeeping is very important department in hospitality industry. The main
