INTRODUCTIONCommunication refers to exchange of knowledge and information with each other. It isan interaction among two and more people. The main motive of this project report is to knowimportance of communication in a business firm and make improvement in it in an effectiveway. Communication helps in interaction with each other in an effective way. Tesco is a bigretail business organisation and also deals in retail sector. Its purpose is to provide best qualityservices to its customer at reasonable cost (Armitage and et. al., 2011). This present businessreport mentions about the range of a decision which company should take. It is necessary forTesco to determine knowledge and information to ensure effectiveness of decision taking. In thisbusiness firm, there are many stakeholders and they play an important role in the decision-making process. For improvement purpose, this company adopts many strategies. This reportdiscusses about an implementation of improvements to assure the greater integration related tothe communication system in Tesco industry. . For improving the communication skills, themanagement of Tesco company prepares an effective plan. With the help of goodcommunication, everyone in an organisation can interact with each other in a proper manner. TASK 11.1 Range of decisions to be takenDecision helps in making business activities in an effective manner. It is necessary to abusiness firm to make the effective decisions for the betterment of company. Decision making isa necessary activity of company. There are many different decision makers in Tesco, which helpsin taking the decision in an effective way. It is necessary for this company to take the variouskinds of decision which should be related to business (Bélanger and Crossler, 2011). The rangeof decision making is necessary to company because it is an effective tool for businessorganisation to develop an appropriate and beneficial plan for business. There are different typesof decision making are given below as above: Programmed decisions- In this the flow of decision is in the same routine and alsobecame a standard. The decision taken is a standard manner so every person of Tesco can followall steps in the process of decision making.Non-programmed- Under this, there is no standard and also no any kind of proper routerelated to decision making. 1

Strategic decisions- These types of decision are for the purpose of long term. . It isrelated to the future planning and this kind of decisions are mainly taken on the basis of missionand vision of Tesco. Generally, it is the duty of top management is to take effective decision bydiscussing with the lower level employees. Tactical decisions- In this, the decisions are taken about the execution of businessstrategy (Bennett, 2010). Its main focus is on implementing the strategies and policies which aredeveloped through the top management in an effective way.Operational level- It is a last level and in this level the decisions are taken with the helpof tactical as well as strategic level. The workers of this level work according to the policies andplans. 1.2 Knowledge and information needed to ensure effective decision takingIn modern business enterprises, knowledge and an information plays an important role.Because of high difficulty in process of business, the staff workers in Tesco requires high levelof skills, capabilities, expertise and also knowledge. From changing at the market placecontinuously, so capabilities and skills to explicate and also respond based on the knowledge andan information in an organisation. In Tesco business organisation, there are many different levelsand the roles and responsibilities of each and every level are different from each other and totake any decision the staff members of each level requires information and knowledge. Anidentification of knowledge at every level is difficult because it is different on the basis ofexplicit knowledge and the tacit of people. In decision making, there are three levels are includedsuch as:Strategic level- It is the top level of Tesco and in this the directors and Chief ExecutiveOfficers (CEO) are included (Choi, Lee and Yoo, 2010.). In this the board of strategic levelgathered and also use the external as well as internal sources of data and information. Tactical level- It is medium level and in this the tactical decision making and alsoplanning takes place with the help of strategic plan. In this mostly the tactical information anddata will be used through the internal sources. The middle management of Tesco use tacticalinformation for managing the projects. Lower level- In this there is an implementation of planning with is depend on the tacticalplan. The plan is executed through the lower level of staff members. In the people are includedsuch as foreman, shop assistants, kitchen staff, workers etc. 2
