INTRODUCTION
Event management is known as an application of project management in which large
scale events are being created and developed such as festivals, conferences, ceremonies,
conventions, concerts, weddings and formal parties (Rogers and Davidson, 2015). Present study
is based on Hilton Bournemouth hotel, based on the south coast of England. This study includes
several dimensions and categories of events. Further this report consist of features and current
trends influencing the event sector. Lastly this study comprises the measures that are essential to
deliver a safe and secure events environment for staffs and guests.
LO 1
P1 Categories and dimensions of different types of events
Events can be categorised majorly in three parts which includes private, corporate and
charity or fund raising events. In order to diversify the range of products by Hilton
Bournemouth, the need to understand different types of events which are as follows:
Private Events: It can be determined as an event where individual books venues
according to their choice for the purpose of a private event. This consist of weddings,
festival gatherings and birthday parties. These events majorly includes bookings of venue
for celebration purpose where the hosts look for privacy in their events and afford a
private venue which is unlike any other organization such as business, schools and
manufacturers (Bentley and et.al., 2016).
Corporate Events: These events can be determined as an event where businesses
promote their companies brands and products by organizing several corporate events
which includes Networking events, seminars, business dinners, product launches,
meetings, promotional events, award ceremonies and business conferences.
Charity/Fundraising Events: These are the types of events which are used by an
individual in order to raise money for the purpose of charity of their own choice by
creating events like society balls, sports events and charitable auctions. This category of
event also includes sponsored runs, sponsored cycling, sponsored walks and sponsored
skydiving in which sponsors takes part in an event for raising money for the charity
purpose.

P2 Features and current trends influencing event sector
There are several trends which influences event sector that are to be understood by Hilton
Bournemouth in order to diversify its products range by bringing new items in its menu and
providing a banquet hall for big parties with a huge capacity (Getz and Page, 2016). In order to
promote products for private events, hotel can use the advertisement of banquet hall for wedding.
Likewise, if the hotel has to offer its hall to corporate events, they can advertise the hall as per
the business meetings and conferences and telling the customers about the significance of
conducting an event in a banquet hall. Whereas for promoting hall for charity events, same
advertisement can be done by organizing some charity functions from the side of hotel itself. The
current trend which can influence the event which is being conducted for promotion of
diversification of products includes several aspects which are as follows:
Event technology trends
The event which is to be organize for the promotion of new product of Hilton
Bournemouth can be more effective with the use of event technology trends. Use of social media
applications can help in promoting the new products of the hotel, as most of the customers who
wish to organize a wedding functions, looks for the venue on social media applications which
can promote the hall for the hotel. This played a major impact on event industry by introducing
event apps (Raj, Walters and Rashid, 2017).
Attendee experience trends
This is the most essential trend which is to be undertook by Hilton Bournemouth in order
to promote its products through experience of the attendees. Attendees helps in promoting the
business by referring the services to other people by admiring the management and advising to
use the management. Hilton Bournemouth can organize wedding events and birthday parties for
promoting private events at the banquet hall, conferences and business meetings can be
organized for promotion of corporate events at the banquet hall, and charity function can be
organized for the promotion of charity events.

P5 Different management roles in event industry
There are several roles in event management industry which provides many job
opportunities in the same sector. The different management roles that are required to execute a
wedding event are as follows:
Production manager: A production a manger can be determined as a person in the event
team who ensures all the productions of an event. It plays a major role in a wedding
event as they help in managing the production of foods which is the most important thing
in a wedding. Customers who are attending the event are influenced by the taste and
provide reviews to their other friends and family members to use the services of the
event team. In a recent period, it has been noticed that there are several weddings taking
place on a grand level which requires a production manager, this increases the needs of
the same job role (SERIES and Harassment, 2019).
Logistics manager: In a recent period, it has been noticed that destination weddings are
taking place on a large number. This increases the use of transportation which requires
significant management for the same. Logistics manager is responsible for the
transportation of all the guests in the wedding. They have to take care of transporting all
the guests from the hotel to the destination which is a responsible role in event team.
There is a huge demand for logistics manager in the current time which can help the
students in making their career in the same.
Event operations manager: It is the most essential role in the event team, an event
operations manager has the responsibility to handle projects from proposal to delivery,
ensuring events are delivered in time and within the budget, maintaining client
relationship and many other roles. There is a huge requirement of operations manager in
the present time dependency on event management groups have increased which
significantly increases the job opportunities for operations manager (Kaminsky, Kilmer
and Ogle, 2015).

P6 Management skills and personal attributes required to work within the event industry and
meeting the requirements and demand of the stakeholders
There are various skills that are essential for meeting the expectations and needs of the
stakeholders through effective communication by team management to them (Schüßler and
Sydow, 2015). There are several tasks which are to be performed in order to carry out an event
that involves meeting targets and maximising profits, contingency planning, conducting risk
assessment and many other aspects, for executing all these aspects, the skills which are required
as discussed as follows:
Multitasking skills: There are several tasks which are performed at the same time in an
event, it is essential for a person working in the event team to perform several tasks at the
same time.
Logistics and resource management skills: Management of logistics and proper allocation
of resources play a significant role in delivering event services. Significant utilization of
resources results in low production costs which increases the profits with satisfaction of
the guests. This helps in being analytical, problem solving, record keeping and finance
management which are to be done in a significant manner in order to meet clients
requirement with full satisfaction (Pielichaty and et.al., 2016).
Personal attitude and professional skills: event management includes customer service
which must be in a professional manner in order to increase the brand value of the event
team. In order to be effective in providing customer service, the representatives of the
event teams must be professional and represent themselves in a significant manner for
maintaining the standards of the company.

P7 Measures essential for delivering a safe and secure event venue with a secure environment for
guests and event staff
There are several measures which are to be undertaken by the event teams in order to
provide a safe and secure environment to both guests and staff. The measures which are to be
taken for providing safe environment for guests includes security and crowd management
strategies which are to be made for preventing entry of any uninvited guests which can harm the
other guests, another measure is executing significantly the procedures of evacuations, the last

measure which must be taken place is resolution of conflicts in dealing with the disruptive,
problems situations guests, and predicting issues.
The measures which are to be taken for providing safe environment to staff includes
following training and development with the legal responsibilities and requirements, and lastly
providing the correct equipments and tools that are required with giving accurate briefings
(Schüßler, Grabher and Müller-Seitz, 2015).
CONCLUSION
Present study concludes that it is essential to understand the skills and personal attributes
that are required to become an effective event manager. This study concluded that events can be
categories in three categories that includes private events, corporate events and charity events.
Further this report concludes that there are several job roles in management of an event which
includes production manager, operations manager and logistics manager. Lastly this report
concludes that there are several measures which are to be executed in order to deliver a secure
and safe event management for staff and guests.
