INTRODUCTION
Human resource planning is a systematic process which helps to analyse potential of
employees for future in comparison with present to attain objectives of organization. Human
resources planning also helps to provide a linkage between strategies of organization and
management policies which provides understanding growing business effectively. It also ensures
the performance of human resource to increase productivity of organization and compete in
market aggressively. Planning of human resources also supports business to use all the available
human resources to formulate effective strategies to increase potential of employees to reach
vision of business.
This report highlights importance of human resource planning in multinational
organization. This report discusses Human resource planning of Tesco and ASDA which are two
multinational companies headquartered in UK. In addition, this report also provides a brief
explantation of job analysis process which both organization are performing and some challenges
which impact the quality of employees. This also helps to understand the recruitment and
selection process of companies to ensure the potential human resources with the help of job
analysis and human resource management.

1. Human resource planning
Human resource planning is a continuous process which is used in organizations so that
they can achieve there objects which is having a quality employee. Human resource is
workforce which is present in business so that there is a better functioning of organization.
Responsibility of human resource is to make sure that the functioning of organization employees
is better and to provide them with a healthy work environment (DeCenzo, Robbins and Verhulst,
2016). There are four key steps which are involved in this process which are meeting proposed
labour need with supply, supporting organizational goals, labour supply and prediction labour
need. Human resource balances the skills of employees which are required in organization
therefore this is also known as workforce planning. This process helps organization to have a
stable future planning for firms and meet needs. Work of human resource planning is that they
attract skilled employees to organization and train them well so that they can match standards of
the organization. Skilled employees are rewarded which is motivating for workforce of
organization to increase, and they resolve conflict in firms so that they can provide employees

with healthy environment. Investing in human resource of organization is one of the best
decisions they should be taking so that organizations internal factors can be maintained.
Increasing productivity of organization is very important so that demands of customers can be
met and that will help organization to collect good revenue.
2. Two organizations selected
Report is going to cover the human resource planning on two organizations which are
going to be ASDA and Tesco.
ASDA:
ASDA is a subsidiary type firm which is a retailer industry and headquarter is in England,
United Kingdom. Number of employees working in ASDA are 165,000 and company is not
doing so well in present (Leng, Li and Liang, 2016). ASDA's parental company is Walmart and
as of 2019 ASDA gained its position back in market which is that they got ahead of Sainsbury's
and are on second position in market. Sainsbury's and ASDA announced their merger plan but
that has been blocked by competition and markets authority as of now but with this company
would have gained 30% shares in market. Organization was listed in London Stock Exchange
until 1999 but acquired by Walmart later. Number of stores which ASDA has in country are 633
as of 2019.
TESCO:
Tesco is he leading organization in United Kingdom which is again a retailing company
and the headquarters of this firm is in England as well. As of 2019 number of stores that firm has
been 6,800 and employees strength is 450,000. Tesco is also operating in 11 other countries in
the world and is ninth largest company in the world. Market share of Tesco is around 28.4% in
country (Hwang, 2019). Tesco has diversified itself in books, clothing, toys, telecoms, etc
industry which is making the company get more revenue than before. Tesco is still listed in
London Stock Exchange and has a capitalization of approximately £18.1 billion as of 2015.
3. Job analysis fits within human resource planning
Job analysis is a process through which there is a collection of information that what are
duties, responsibilities, necessary skills, outcomes and work environment which are present in a
particular job. Human resource must get the right candidate in organization so that they can make
