I believe that I have contributed in the goal accomplishment to generate awareness for the

needs and requirements of the cancer patients in the society. I feel that through conducting

2.4 Cycle Model of Reflection
Experience 1

During the formative assessment various conflicts and issues raised regarding the decision

making power and adoption of idea or approaches to support for the fundraising activities

occurred. The major issues were related to decision making authority and power for planning

and programming. The group members conflicted upon the power of authority to judge and

decide over the plans and programs. Each group member was keen to get his or her idea and

approach to be promoted. This made me feel congested and angry at the fellow group

members. The members were concerned with the effectiveness and outcomes of the

approaches; they were just interested in their idea being promoted.Later the group members

resolved the issue byselecting the best ideas from each individual after properevaluation and

analysis of the impact of the ideas on the fundraising activities and promotional plans. The

members decided upon segregating the level of authority to different individuals by assessing

the capabilities and interest level of each individual. The authority to undertake different sections

of the fundraising activity and operations were divided between the individuals in a fair and

justified manner. According to me the issues raised due to the lack of team spirit and lack of

understanding of team dynamics. The group members lack the spirit of unity and perform

effectively to support for the cause of cancer patients. To avoid such conflictsin future team

working prior discussion related to duties and authorities in the team must be undertaken. This

will create a proper understanding of the assigned duties and authorityof each individual.

Experience 2

Another experience involves conflicts that rose due to personality and perception clashes of the

individuals. At times the group membersconflicted due to clashes over opinions, viewpoints,

ideas and approaches. This led to differences in perception and ego clashes of the members. It

made me feel demotivated and disinterested in the group activities and discussions. The

activities are undertaken to discuss the operations and functions resulted in clashes and

meaningless discussions on the part of the group members. These ego and personality clashes

resulted in delayed decision making and selection of appropriate strategy to develop plan and

programs for the fundraising activities. It also led to a delay in the development and presentation

of the details to the tutors. The causes for these clashes were different understanding and

perception of the group members. The individuals lacked understanding of group working and

8

team building activities. Lastly, hegroups resolved over to the tutor to resolve these conflicts. It is
necessary to understand for the group members that people differ on thoughts and values

regarding different approaches and actions. It is necessary to respect and value the opinions

and viewpoints of others. The group working requires for understanding viewpoints of self and

others then evaluating thebest deliverable and outcome. In order to avoid these clashes of

personalities and perceptions in the future it is required to analyse the group thoughts and

viewpoints in an effective manner.

Mumford and Honey

Honey and Mumford designed for four learning styles such as Activist, Theorist, Pragmatist and

Reflector. The Activist learning style depicts the attributes for learning by actuallyexecuting the

programs and techniques. These learning styles depict for conducting the activities of

brainstorming, problem-solving, and group discussion and puzzles etc.(
Alshammari, et. al.,
2015).
Another learning style is referred to as Theorists that seeks forinterpreting thetheories
and approaches for the actions and programs developed. The Pragmatists are the learners who

are keened to know about the practical application for the learning approaches and techniques

in the real world. The last style of learning refers toReflectorsare the seekers to gain knowledge

for the practical execution and observation of the learned theories and approaches.

2.5 Qualitative and Quantitative Evidence
Feedbacks from Peers

The feedback received from the peers and audience at the program accounted for Qualitative

Evidence. My team has received various feedbacks and opinions of other teams working on the

same project to collect funds for the fundraising program at the Macmillan Cancer. We received

feedback from the other teams regarding the researchconducted, the activities are undertaken

to generate awareness of the cancer patient’sexperiences. Feedback was also received from

the patients at the Macmillan Cancer both current and past patients of the organisation. The

past patients of the organisation provided feedbacks regarding the performance of the activities

and programs. To summarise the feedback positive response was received from the peers and

the past patients regarding the activities and programs developed.

Team Targets

Quantitative Evidence received from the other teams included for the targets and time

schedules of the other teams. The team targets included time schedules and budgets plan to be

followed in order to achieve the results and outcomes from the fundraising activities. Team

targets were compared of each time to measure the effectiveness of work and the operational

outcomes.
