ï‚· What are the ways business can expand at global level?
ï‚· What type of risk can globalisation have on business?
Rationale
The main reason for choosing this topic is to analyse that how business can achieve
success in era of globalisation. Also, it will enable in finding out real example of those

Literature review
As said by Baylis, 2020, the evolution of globalisation has provided a platform for a
business to expand in other countries. It has allowed them to trade with other countries and
provide their products and services in order to fulfil needs of people. Moreover, it has opened

According to Lechner and Boli, 2020, many small and medium firms are also getting
opportunities to enter in new market. They are able to attract large number of customers and earn

to companies to enter into new market and make connection with new consumers. That helps in

1
that helps business in gaining competitive advantage by raising global brand image. It makes
consumers positive towards the brand and help in sustaining in market for longer duration.
Silova and Niyozov, 2020 argued that franchise is the best option to enter into new market. By
using this method entity can run its operations in global market in cost effective manner. As
giving franchise to any other local brand that has good command over the local area may help in
reducing operational cost and also help in enhancing awareness among people. By this way
people will buy its products frequently that may help organisation in gaining success in market.
As per the view of Lechner and Boli, 2020 globalisation creates threat to business
because in the new market it is very difficult to know needs of local population and serve them
products accordingly. If enterprise fail to satisfy needs of that people then enterprise may have to
bear huge financial loss, apart from this it may impact its presence in market badly. Many times
entities fail to analyse market condition and enter into new market, if selection of market is not
appropriate then also globalisation may create big trouble to business unit. In such condition
entities may not be able to sustain in new market for longer duration. In such condition it fails to
attract new investors hence overall financial stability of firm can get affected by this
globalisation. In order to maintain the competitiveness in the market, business entities are taking
continual initiatives that diversify the business activities in efficient manner. Globalisation is
termed out as leading concept that has become of vital concept in life during the last few
decades. Globalisation is term that mainly enhance the competition. This competition can be
relating with the product, target market, technological adaption, quick response and services cost
etc. One of the most striking manifestation of globalisation is that the number of the enterprise
can have the use of new technologies by the entrepreneurial and internationally oriented firms
that aids to exploit new business opportunities. Henceforth, Lechner and Boli, 2020 stated that
technical advancement is of the crucial tool that leads to increase the competition and also
improves the quality of good and services. On the other hand, globalisation has also enhanced
the speed of technology transfer and help to bring improvement in technological advancement.
Therefore, the firm needs to use the technical advancement so that sales and quality of product
can be increased. As per the view of Lechner and Boli, 2020 stated that globalisation has
enhanced the speed of technology transfer and bring technical improvement. Thus, development
of the international business activities that mainly coincided with widespread phenomenon of the
globalisation markets.

CHAPTER 3: METHODOLOGY
3.1 Research Approach
Research approach is a kind of plan that includes broad assumption steps to data collection,
interpretation and analysis. There are two main types of research methods that are most
commonly used: deductive and inductive research approach (Hay and et. al., 2019). Deductive
approach focuses on development of hypothesis on the basis of existing theories and designing a
strategy to test hypothesis. Whereas, inductive approach starts with observations and theories
that are proposed at the end of research process as a result of observation. For this research
induction approach has been used as it will help in answering research questions in an
appropriate manner. Other than this it is also useful for generating untested conclusion of the
research.
3.2 Methodologies:
(i) Sampling
Sampling is a process through which specific members of a population are selected in
order to participate within research project. Sampling helps in making research type and size
manageable and also helps in making research findings and results more accurate. There are two
main types of sampling in primary data collection: probability and non-probability sampling
(Arantes do Amaral, dos Santos and Rodrigues, 2018). In probability sampling every population
member has a known chance of participating within a study. Whereas, in non-probability
sampling only selected members of population are selected in a non- random manner, as a result
only few members of the population have chance of participating within the study. In this non-
probability method has been used to select 20 managers of Tesco. All the 20 selected managers
will be asked to participate within the study.
(ii) Data analysis
Data analysis is a process of transforming, cleaning and modelling data to discover useful
information which is required for decision making within the research project. There are two
main types of data analysis methods: thematic data analysis and statistical data analysis.
Thematic data analysis method is used for analysis of qualitative data analysis methods (Khupe
and Keane, 2017). Whereas statistical data analysis method is used for analysis of quantitative
data analysis methods. For this research, thematic data analysis method has been chosen as it
helps in analysing qualitative data.

(iii) Cost, access and ethical considerations
Cost: In order to complete this project overall £400. Main cost of this project was in collection of
primary data from all the selected respondents, where all the respondents were asked to
participate in the survey and fill the questionnaire provided to them (Kopnina and Blewitt, 2018).
Access: Access to all the secondary data was easy and most of the data was available on online
journals, scholars, websites etc. access to primary data was a bit difficult as response of all the
respondents was not available to the researcher on time.
Ethical considerations: There are various kinds of ethical considerations that were focused on
and considered in this project:
ï‚· None of the respondents were forced to participate within the study.
ï‚· Research participants privacy was also protected during the research.
ï‚· If any one of the respondents wanted to back out from participating within the research, then
they were not forced for the same and were allowed to do so.
ï‚· All kinds of primary and required information related to the research was provided to the
respondents and after that their consent was taken and were asked to participate within the
study.
ï‚· Data protection act, 1998 was also adhered while collecting both primary and secondary data
for the research (Martynova and et. al., 2019).
ï‚· All kind of communication related to research was done with transparency and honesty.

4.1 Data collection
All the primary data for this research was collected within the help of a survey. A survey
was conducted that consisted of a questionnaire which was distributed to selected 20
respondents. All the 20 respondents were asked to fill the questionnaire so that primary data for
the research can be collected and analysed in an accurate and appropriate manner.

CHAPTER 6: PERSONAL REFLECTIVE STATEMENT
6.1 Reflect on the research methods used in your project
It is extremely important for us to select appropriate research method suitable for the
project as these research methods helps in completing the research project in an appropriate
manner. In order to complete this project in an appropriate method inductive research approach
was used. In order to answer all research question in an appropriate manner interpretivism
research philosophy was chosen. In order to complete data analysis primary data collection
method was chosen in which with the help of survey primary data collection was chosen. As
time period in which research project was required to be completed was short so non-probability
sampling method was chosen and with the help of this method 20 respondents were chosen.
6.2 Consider research methods that could have been used
There are various other kinds of methods that could have been used in order to complete
the research project in a much better manner. In place of interpretivism research philosophy
method, positivism could have been used adhering factual knowledge that has been gained with
the help of observations. Other than this this, in place of thematic data analysis method,
statistical data analysis method could have been used for analysis of data as it would have helped
in effectively presenting results of the research methods.
6.3 Areas for further research
Globalization is one such area of research in which various kinds of research has been
carried out. Its impact upon organizations their business, ways in which it can help organization
to extend their business in other countries and many more has been focused on till not. But its
impact upon relationship of two countries has been focused least. Very few researchers have
been carried out in this field of research.
