TOPIC - The application of Talent Management in the service industry as a
strategic approach on productivity and enhancing business/organisation
success.
INTRODUCTION
Talent Management is defined as systematic procedures which is used by a company in
order to identify vacant position, hiring suitable person, enhancing skills and experience of staffs
and many more (Aned, Zainal and Alya, 2013). The main purpose of adopting talent
management at the workplace is to recruit, develop as well as retain the best talent at the
company so that they can attain their predetermined goal and target. Organisation selected for
this report is Hilton Hotel and Resort which is a private company operating in hospitality
industry. It is founded by Conrad Hilton in year 1919 as well as its head office is located at
Virginia, United State. The respective hotel is operating at worldwide level that include
California, United kingdom, Western Europe, United State, Florida and many more. The aim of
conducting this report is to understand need of innovative and new ways of working for
achieving strategic approach for talent management at the respective hotel. For which researcher
is gathering information through different methods like qualitative, quantitative, primary and
secondary.
Background
Over the years, service industry has been dealing with a number of problems in relation
to talent management. This impacted negatively upon overall performance level of different
range of hotels and other service providers. Including this, it is also said that it has become vital
for business organisations to adopt right talent at workstation in correct time. With the help of
this, a company could sustain within the market for a longer period of time (Auguste and
Gutsatz, 2013). If it is talked about Hilton Hotel and Resort, then this hotel was also started
dealing with this issue, where they started lacking the proper talent, which raised high range of
risks for them because of continuous rise within the market.

Aim of this research is “To analyse need of innovative and new ways of working in order
to achieve a strategic approach to talent management”. A study on Hilton hotel.
Research Objectives
To knowing the concept of talent management at workplace.
To determine the strategies that can be implemented by Hilton hotel to adopt new and
innovative ways for implementing talent management at workplace.
To evaluate the effectiveness of adopting new and innovative ways for getting strategic
approach to talent management.

Rationale of Research
The vital reason behind conducting investigation on chosen topic is that service market is
continuously rising, where hotels are adopting a number of techniques and taken into
consideration of various innovative ways so that they could effectively utilise strategic approach
to talent management. Away with this, it is also said that for a business firm like Hilton Hotel
and Resort it has become vital to recruit effective staff so that right amount of innovations could
be brought in by the business firm. Along with this, self interest of the researcher is also
considered, as a reason behind conducting the investigation on the topic i.e. “Need of innovative
and new ways of working in order to achieve a strategic approach to talent management”.
LITERATURE REVIEW
In present investigation, literature review section has been taken into consideration is
basically an explicit, systematic and methodology, which will help the investigator in
understanding the viewpoint of other investigators who has already performed the research on
the chosen topic or related to it.

According to Baharin and Hanafi, (2018), talent management is required by every single
business organisation, when it comes to manage the capabilities of it in current market so that it
could sustain within the market for a longer period of time. On the other hand, this vital concept
i.e. talent management there are a number of Strategic Approaches to Talent Management in the
workplace that are available for companies in order to manage workforce are developing Job
descriptions, delivers a number of development opportunities, performance assessments,
selection process and effective compensation, which would lead which are helpful in retaining
innovation at workplace. On the other hand, it is also said that talent management must stem
from a company’s mission and vision for their business. Including this, it is also said that when it
comes to an employee to find their niche, working towards the ultimate goal of the company.

could help Hilton hotel to deliver clear information about what duties go into the
performance of a job. With the help of this, Hilton Hotel would become able to ensure
that the people who apply for the vacant job, they exactly get the knowledge that what is
expected by the organisation. Provide Development Opportunities: Another crucial approach, that can be applied by

Manager. With the help of this, an organisation could effectively deliver high range of
