This main purpose of selecting this research project is to improve academic knowledge on
Globalisation and identify its benefits so that businesses can take its advantage. This will also
improve communication and analytical skill of researcher that will help them in conducting
more effective and worthy research in future. This topic has been selected by researcher as
they have learnt about the same topic in some past course which has raised interest for it. This
has motivated them to choose topic on Globalisation. Further by conducting research on this
topic, H&M can gain knowledge about the key aspects associated with globalisation and
easily enter the emerging markets with lesser possibility of failure.

Concept of globalisation
Globalisation is the process of integration of two or more countries, government, economy
and people. This integration influences business to operate business activities at international
level for common purpose growth. It can be said that concept of Globalisation is beneficial
only for large scale companies as it requires huge level of financial and networking support at
the time of global expansion (Gale and et. al., 2013). On the other hand, at the same time it is
not possible for small scale companies to approach international market in order to enhance
their profits with less financial funds. In this regard, H&M can gain knowledge about the
concept of globalisation so as to learn as well as devise ways and strategies through which it
can easily enter into emerging markets.
Different strategies by which H & M can lead international market.
It is necessary for large scale companies to approach international market so that they can
enhance their profitability ratio and lead chosen market place. As per evaluation, it has been
identified that there are different market entry strategies which helps business in succeeding
at international market (Ariely, 2012). For example: If large scale companies like H &M is
planning to expand its business in international market then they can adopt joint venture,
Licensing, Partnerships, franchising, buy a company etc. as its market entry strategy. This
will assist the enterprise by providing guidance upon the manner in which new markets can be
successfully tapped. Thus, by adopting any one or more of the before mentioned strategies,
H&M can easily gain entry into new markets so as to enhance their existing level of customer

base, sales and profits. This will help this company in leading target market zone effectively
without facing much issue.
Major challenges for companies at the time of global expansion
Concept of globalisation contains lots of benefit for businesses, government and people. It
also leads to overall development of economy. But, at the same time, this concept contains
many challenges and obstacles in front of business organisation that stops them in expanding
their business effectively. Major challenges of globalisation which are faced by business at
the time of global expansion include language issue, cultural diversity, hiring of workforce
etc. It can be said that these are the main challenges which might affect large scale companies
at the time of global expansion (Doiz, Lasagabaster and Sierra, 2013). Thus, in this regard,
H&M should take these barriers or challenges into account while carrying out global
expansion so as to ensure that these do not cause harm to company.
