INTRODUCTIONDeveloping manager play important role in taking care that organisation activities arebeing taking place properly. Planning, staffing, organising, controlling are various activitieswhich are performed by superior. They take care that staff members are having adequate skillsand knowledge in according to duties that they are required to perform. Training anddevelopment are program through which management is able to enhance abilities of employees;so that they carry out tasks effectively and complete them within specified time limit. Presentreport is based on J.W. Marriott which are operating their business in hospitality sector. Theyprovide quality services to customers, through which they are able to improve their profitabilityby improving their image and goodwill in market (Billings and Halstead, 2015). Their managerkeep motivating and dedicating employees, so that they deliver quality service and attain targetsproperly.TASK 11.1 Compare two styles of management which are used for JW Marriott Autocratic style: In such working style, superiors do not take suggestions and ideas oftheir subordinates. They are having a characteristics where managers are responsible fordecisions, boss having a most control and authority of making a decisions for utilizingdelegation and doesn't consult from their workers. Having a sole responsibility ofsuperiors, managers and leaders for decisions making without bothering much aboutemployees (Smith and Dodds, 2017). Advantages: In this style of leadership, organisation can have a quick decisions, total control,work process is streamlined, easy to learn etc. Disadvantages:Depend on leaders, skilled workers, over load of work on higher authorities,higher rate of staff turnover etc. Democratic style: In this working style, boss enter feedbacks of their employees. Theyenhance the delegate authority to their employees, continual consultation andresponsibility sharing. Working in a democratic style is a healthy interaction andeffective between employees and management. As boss listen to their employees beforefinal of their management decisions.Advantages: it help in gaining higher satisfaction within employees, increase staff membersmotivation and morale, Complex issues are solved easily, better enterprise fits etc. 1

Disadvantages: It is time consuming, raise uncertainty, slower and less consistent making ofdecisions etc. Paternalistic Style: It is a hybrid style of autocratic and democratic. Leaders may allowinputs of employees but final decisions is taken by managers itself. Workers feedbackimproves their morale but if their decisions are not implemented may lead todemotivation. Advantages: Subordinates are loyal as their staff feel so cared and protected, lower employeesturnover, reduce cost of recruitment, competitiveness are improved, decisive etc. Disadvantages: Do not promote their workers imaginative and creative skills, workers dependmore on mangers etc. Laissez-Faire Style: In this style of leadership, managers adopt this style which provideworkers important autonomy and freedom. It is very effective if workers are skilled,experts and supervision are on field. Advantages: workers should be resourceful, confident and relaxed, respect for workers, trust foremployees etc. Disadvantages: Neglect the process of planning, lack of coordination among all employees etc. JW Marriott and Hilton are two organisation which use autocratic and democratic stylesof leadership. Companies mainly allow their workers to suggest ideas and decisions which arevery important and should be confidential then firm take their own decisions. 1.2 Leadership characteristics of manager in JW MarriottLeadership: Managers with good quality lead to manage workers. It includes enthusiasm,self-assurance and emotional stability. As per JW Marriott, boss have to display stability inemotions by not showing stress and frustration. Enthusiasm mean boss should be engaged andenergetic. They display a self-assurance by not being overly affected by failures or mistakes. Someone in a position of playing a role of supervisory and managerial make a particularemployee a true leader (Hunt and Weintraub, 2016). Reserved designation for displaying someattributions while observing their practical skills of JW Marriott. Qualities of leadership having ahigher demand for having a good reason- they drive morale of workers and success of company.Some of qualities of good leadership are as follows: 2
