Research objectives:
To understand basic knowledge about the concept of
globalisation.
To identify importance of globalisation in driving business success of M&S.
To Explore different ways through which M&S can easily enhance their success at
global level.
Section Two: Reasons for choosing this research project
One of the most important reason behind selecting this research is to determine the path
through which M&S can gain success during globalisation. Mark and Spenser is multinational
fashion retailer and its headquarter is located in United Kingdom. The major purpose behind
selecting this organisation is that M&S is one of the largest fashion and luxury brand of UK.
The organisation also provide various job opportunities to interested candidates all over the

a sequential and systematic manner.
Concept of globalisation

Globalisation directly helps in making best use of various opportunities
present at the global level. This is because while entering into global

Research Philosophy: A research Philosophy is basically of two types which are
Interpretivism and positivism. For this project interpretivism philosophy will be applied for
evaluating the information in the effective and efficient manner. It will also help in proving
better solutions to the research problem so that better conclusions can be drawn. On the other
side, positivism philosophy is not appropriate for this project because some time it create
difficulties for the investigator (Hirst,Thompson and Bromley, 2015).
Research Approach: There are basically two types of research approach such as inductive and
deductive. According to this topic, inductive research approach will be used by researcher as it
will help an investigator to accumulate accurate data according to the study. On the other side,
deductive approach is not appropriate for this project because it take maximum time and not
give quality data about the topic (Crane and Matten, 2016).
Research strategy: There are different types of research strategy including, case study,
observation, survey etc. All these are consider main strategy for a researcher to gather accurate
information about the project. According to this research, case study is consider important
strategy which is applied by investigator to accumulate in-depth information about the topic.
Research Choice: Qualitative and quantitative are consider as a type of research which is
applied by researcher to gather appropriate information about the study. According to current
project, qualitative research is used because it give quality and appropriate data as compared

to quantitative research.
Time horizon: It is also consider another step of research onion framework which is most
useful because with the help of Gantt chart, they can easily identify starting and ending time
for proposal and project submission.
Techniques and procedures and research instruments: Questionnaire is consider important
and essential techniques, procedures and instrument of primary research which is applied by
researcher to collect reliable as well as valid data about the study.
Data Sources: The data can be collected from two sources which are primary and secondary
sources. Primary data is known as the first hand data because in this the data can directly be
collected from the respondents with the help of questionnaire (Enloe, 2016). Where as on the
other hand for collecting secondary information data can be gathered from websites, magazines
and journals.
Research Sampling: Probability and non-probability are consider as a two types of research
sampling which is used for selecting sample size (Milanovic, 2016). According to this project,
probability sampling will be used because it not need more time, cost and resources of an
organisation as compared to non-probability sampling. Thus, with the help of probability
sampling 60 respondents have been selected.
Research Ethics: Informed consent, confidentiality and anonymity are consider main
principles of research ethics which should be used by researcher to do each activities of
research in systematic manner (Hawkesworth, 2018).
Research limitation: One of the main limitation for this research project is time. As
globalisation is a biggest concept and for doing research about this topic, accurate time period
is require by an investigator.
