INTRODUCTION
Managing behaviour is an approach with which it can be determined that all the learners
can have rights for achieving the opportunity for learning. In a learning environment it is
important to consider various legislations which has impact on the learners. In addition to this
while recruiting the learner capabilities and background of the learner need to be taken into
consideration. In this report various theories for managing behaviours, potential factors that can
have impact on behaviours are considered. Apart from this various portfolio and personal
analysis is conducted with which effectiveness of managing behaviour of an individual can be
analysed.
TASK A
a) Theories of behaviour management
Behaviour management theory are applied with the notion that behaviour of the human
can be understood in a better way and this enables the individuals to achieve their goals and
objectives. The theories that can help in managing the behaviour includes:
Maslow need hierarchy theory: Abraham Maslow believed that needs of an individual
guides their behaviour as human needs can never be satisfied completely. Their behaviour is
purposeful which is motivated by need of satisfaction. The needs are arranged in a hierarchical
structure as per the requirement of the need such as physiological needs which are related with
the basic needs of an individual, safety needs which includes basic security, safety, protection
etc., belonging and love needs in which an individual seek relations with others, esteem needs
that aims to develop self confidence and last need is self actualisation need which an individual
aims to find himself. All these needs guides the behaviour of any individual (Guest, 2017).
Theory X and Theory Y: Douglas McGregor believed that the individuals are of two
types which fall in two category. In individual that fall in Theory X have negative views, are
lazy, untrustworthy and are incapable of assuming their responsibility. While individuals of
Theory Y poses high motivation level which makes them capable of managing the responsibility.
Such characteristics of the individuals regulates their behaviour as on the basis of their beliefs
the set assumptions that has impact on their behaviour (Hunter, 2016).
