INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is defined as a process through which the human resource
in the company is planned, selected, trained and retained. It is the strategic approach to effectual
management of the employees in the organisation so that the business can gain competitive
advantage while operating in the current market. In the service sector the role played by HRM is
very crucial and it is dependent on the relation that it makes with the employee's and the
customers. This report is based on Hilton group of Hotels which is the well known brand in the
industry. It is based on London and is known for the service qualities and the amenities it
provides. This report covers the role and the purpose of HRM and the plan based on demand
and supply of the industry. Also the impact on employees relation and employment law as well
as recruitment and selection procedure in this industry is defined. Lastly the effect of good
training and development will be discussed in this assignment.

3.1 Job description and specification
Every organisation wants to hire the employees for their firm at current time or in future
time. It is the responsibilities of HR department to measure the requirement of recruitment and
selection of suitable employees for the company. If HR manager wants to start the process of
recruitment they have to measures all the departments by doing it, department will know about
the requirement of employees in the organisation which will assist them in creating job
description and job specification. These two documents includes all the informations about the
specific post which is offered by the organisation it is also including the duties and roles that
have to perform by the applicant.
Whereas, job description defined as a document in which the role details and positions
that are offered by the organisation included. It is formulated by the HR department of an
organisation and formulated after doing analysis of the job (Gil-Pechuan, 2011)

4.1 Contribution of training and development (T&D) activities.
T&D are the most essential tool which is used by HR manager in order to get efficient
employees in the firm. Firstly, the HR department analyse the needs of development in all
departments then they will organise a training programme through which all the needs of various
department get fulfilled. It is an important task so, management of organisation have to provide a
best training programme to their employees. Due to which, their efficiency will be increased and

they will able to perform on a difficult task. A lot of contribution is provided to the organisation
by the training and development programmes. There are some methods of training which gave to
employees in the organisation. They are as under:
On the Job Training method – Under this method, training is provided within the
organisation to employees. In context of Hilton, the employees get training in the hospitality
industry which educate them to deal with different circumstances that will help them in
achieving strong position in organisation. Visual aids, role play and lectures are the essential
part.
Off the job training method- In this part, organisation provided the training session to
their employees outside the organisation. Here the trainer wants to train the trainees through
taking help of any method. These methods includes coach training, seminars etc.(Sanchez-
Bueno, 2011). Training and development enhances the skills of employees in in the Hilton hotel
so that, they will gave more contribution in objectives of the firm in order to obtain sustainability
and growth the future time.
CONCLUSION
It has been analysed from the above report that the roles and purpose of Human Resource
Management in the hospitality industry are very crucial for the development of organisation.
Human resource plan based on an analysis of supply and demand for service industries in order
to get satisfaction from the customers has been developed in the above report. Employment
relations should be healthy within the Hilton hotel for delivering effective services to their
customers. Employment laws and their affects on operation activities of Hilton hotel are also
