INTRODUCTION
The term “ Human Resource Management “ refers to a process of managing the
workforce to have better performance and achieve the desired objectives and goals of the
company. It refers to a approach where the people are hired for the job and managed by the
management of the company to achieve the goals and objectives of the company. Human
resource management is considered as an essential part of the company as it leads to improve the
performance of the company and gain competitive advantage for the company to survive in the
business world. The report below is based on the human resource management practices in
Hilton hotels and resorts that is global company providing the services of hotel and resort. The
Hilton hotel brand is coming in the world 's largest hotel brand in the global market. The hotel is
providing and doing business in resorts and as well as in leisure travelers stays in different cities.
The report below includes the purpose, scope of human resource management in resourcing with
talent and skills of the company, evaluation of effectiveness in human resource management,
internal and external factors that affect the human resource management with employment
legislation, human resource management practices in the company along with its conclusion.

TASK 1
P1 Purpose and functions of HRM applicable to workforce planning and resourcing an
organisation.
Human resource management enables the organisation to fulfill their needs by managing
all employees working in a particular organisation. Human resource management continuosly
helps organisation by increasing productivity as well as development of working structure. It
performs various functions right from recruiting employees, motivating them as well as
maintaining all people who are performing in organisation. There are some functions of human
resource management and it is explained as below:- Recruitment and selection:- The most important fucntion of human resource
management is staffing which determines recruitment and selection of employees.
Recruitment means to fill all job vacancies by looking for candidates who are qualified
enough for that job by giving advertisements in newspapers, social media and so on.
Selection means determing those candidates who is a right candidate for the job and this

process is done by taking interviews, tests. In context with hotel hilton, they mainly
focused on manpower planning. When hotel followed the process of recruitment, various
people were accepted according to their qualification as well as talent. In hotel industry
there are many job roles so hotel Hilton selected those employees who have a good
knowledge regarding hotel industry job roles. (Armstrong and Taylor, 2020)
Training and development:- When any new employee joins the organisation they are
provided training so that they can work with all tools which are necessray for job due to
which they will lead to development. It is also important to maintain employee relation
and for effective relation in an organisation leadership training is needed. Training and
development enhance skills of employees and develop their passion for achieving goals
of organisation. In context with Hotel hilton, selected candidates are given eight hour
training in which they are given each information about hotel as well as their job roles.
Employee benefits:- It is related to concept of compensation only. As every employee
gets a fixed amount of salary to them but they should get some benefits also other than
their salary. There are two benefits which can be given to employees; voluntary benefits
and compulsory benefits. There are certain employee benefits like paid vacantions,
earned leaves and so on. In context with hotel, various benefits were provided to them
like meals are provided to them when they are on duty, life insurance policies, illness
benefits. (Collings, Wood and Szamosi, 2018)
The purpose of human resource management includes various responsibilities like candidate
selection, organization development, employee relations, career development and so on. In
context with hotel hilton, they continuosly support workers, ensures that customers are satisfied
with them and initiating benefit schemes for employees.
P2 Strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and selection.
There are different approaches of recruitment and has certain strengths as well as
weaknesses and it is explained as below:- Direct advertising:- It means to advertise about job vacancies on social media sites,
career sites, job boards and it is considered as the most effective way to find qualified
candidates. It also enhance company's reputation. Through direct advertising, each
information about job can be posted and it reach to more candidates but at the same time
