INTRODUCTION
People are the most crucial asset of any business and are required to be managed effectively.
Employees are the backbone of an organisation that can either made or made it’s business value.
The work performance possesses by them ensures success for the entity Thus, it is highly
required from the companies to manage people in the organisations in effective manner. The
present undertaking comprises two sections namely research and report. In the first part, a
research has been done to analyse the existing practices of the organisation in context to the
people working there. Whereas in second section, ‘Report’ various constituents that are required
to manage employees of an entity will be discussed. This will cover the use of effective
communication methods and their significance. In addition to this, practices that should be
adopted by the human resource management will also be examined. Besides this, appropriate
leadership style will be selected. Furthermore, various ways in which tea can work effectively
will be discussed in the present undertaken report.
The present assignment is based on the people working in an entity Century Limited. The
selected firm belongs to shipment industry where all three types of roles are present, part-time
remote, field work and full-time remote.
TASK 1: RESEARCH
People in organisation are its’ most important and valuable components. They are the
backbone of the organisational functions. For analysing the significance of employees in an
entity, Century Ltd. is selected. There are various factors that my create issues for the employees.
In order to manage effectiveness in the functions, it is necessary o analyse those flaws and
replace the with the effective strategies. Further, to identify the working environment of the
selected company, a questionnaire has been conducted. In this survey, sample sizes of 60
employees who are working in the firm have participated. Below are the questions which were
asked in the questionnaire:

INTERPRETATION:
From the questionnaire that has been conducted on the 60 employees working in the
Century Ltd., it has been observed that there are only 6 employees who are highly satisfied
with the communication level that is maintained din the firm. Further, it has been identified
that there are 14 employees who were satisfied with the level of interaction maintained in
the company. On the other hand it has been observed that there are 10 employees who are

highly dissatisfied with the communication between employees. Further, the data for the
employees keeping neutral and dissatisfied perceptions are 18 and 12 respectively.

employees working on the Century Ltd., it has been identified that there are 25 employees

Further, there were 17 workers who responded that they sometimes do feel hesitation.

employees working in the century Ltd., it has been identified that there are 13 employees
who are not having any kind of issues in the organisation. In contrary to this, there exists
47 such workers who are facing some kind of issues in the entity either it be related with

practices.

factors that impacts upon an employees, it has been observed that there are also the impacts
of leadership style which is required to be managed. As per the outcomes obtained from the
questionnaire, it has been observed that there are 12 employees who are feels that their team
leader is highly effective. Further, 16 employees thinks that he/she is effective. On the other
hand there are 10 employees who think that the leader is not effective. Also, as per the views
of 2 workers, the leader is highly ineffective.

INTERPRETATION
For effective functioning of an entity, it is necessary to posses’ effective leadership style.
From the questionnaire that has been conducted on the chosen organisation, it has
observed that there are 20 employees according to whom the style of leadership is very
effective. Besides this, there are 10 employees who believe that the leadership style of
their entity is effective enough to meet the organisational goals and objectives. On the
other hand, 8 employees think that their leader is highly ineffective. Also, views of 10
workers reflect that the leader is not effective. However, there are 12 employees who
keeps neutral attitude towards this.

making systems.
10. Changes which employees wanted to get implemented:
From the open-ended question that has been asked in the questionnaire, it has been
obtained that the organisation is lacking in various factors. By integrating all the ideas
suggested by the 60 employees, it has been observed that the entity requires a high level of
communication between employees and employers. Also, Human resource departments of
the firm should emphasise more on the training and development of the people working in
the firm. Further, it has been identified that the entity is needed to assign work roles as per
the skills and abilities of the employees.

Benefits of effective communications.
It is highly recommended for the selected firm Century Ltd. to possess effective
communication in the business operations. This is necessary for getting task done in right

direction. Effective communication holds a significant place for smooth functioning of an
organisation. There are numerous benefits for an entity that possess high level of interaction with
its people. Some of them are as follows:
 Transparency in operations: For effective functioning of business, it is necessary to
maintain transparency in the operations. In order to maintain this clarity,
communication plays a major role. It allows others to
 Develop relationships: Communication helps in developing good relationship
among employees and employers. This further creates a high level of trust which is
beneficial for the employers. On basis of this faith, leaders can influence their
juniors. In this way, the selected firm can get all the function done in a timely
manner (Kaufman, 2014)
 Maintains healthy working environment: Interactions between employees,
employers and high level authority helps in maintaining a health working
environment in the premises. It further assures the evacuation of negativity that
hampers the working conditions.

undergoing effective communication. It helps in making things clear with one
other. This benefit assist in reducing egos and other conflicts between employees.
 Reduces errors in the operations: If all the actions will be well communicated with
all the team members and participating departments than it will reduce the errors.

work related issues with each other. This deed renders them with effective ideas
that can be used to resolve the challenges. In this way, the quality of work gets

Policies and procedures that can be used to enhance communication within organisation.
In order to improve the communication within the business environment there are various
policies and procedures present. The chosen firm, Century Ltd. can make use of them to enhance
the interaction in the organisation. They should implement the following policies and procedures
in the company:
Managers and high-level authorities of the company are suggested to involve each and
every employee of the firm in the decision-making procedures. This engagement will not only
helps in generating a communication but also help in gathering more ideas that can help in the
development of the organisation.
Leaders of the cited entity are suggested to give equal opportunities to all the employees to point
their perception in the team based decisions. This will bring effectiveness in the operations along
with creating a healthy working environment (Kearney and Mareschal, 2014)
Besides this, entity is also required to implement those activities that enhance good
communication in the working environment. Thus, they are also suggested to restricts the use of
bad communication with the premises.
Legislation relevant to communication within organisation and their impact on people working
there.
There are various government policies and legislations that support the effective
communication that should be maintained at the establishment. Some common regulations that
are followed by all the entities are as follows:
 Employment Act, 1955: As per this law, all the employees are required to be considered
at same place. They should be treated equally Further, all of them should be provided
with equal opportunities of rendering their messages to the organisation. This legislation
helps each and every worker, working in the company to put his/hr views in front of other
colleagues and high level authority (Baddon, and et. al., 2017)
 Occupational health and safety act, 1994: As per this act of the Malaysian government it
is essential for all the firms to ensure a healthy and safety working environment to the
people who are working in the entity. This involves effective communication too. Under
this, employers are not allowed to harass or insult employees.

 Employment and labour law, 2017: As per this legislation, this is mandatory for all the
organisation working in the country which belong to any sector to follow the standards
set for the employment and labour.
Hence, these are the general legislations to which all the organisations working in the
country should be stuck with. Abdication of these will hamper the communication of the
firm.
How organisation structure impacts on the communication method.
 There exits different type of organisational structure and all of them puts variable
impact on the method of communication used. For instance: Pre-bureaucratic
structures have limitation of standardisation of the functions. This type of structure
limits the participation of members in the organisation. In this structure only high-
level authorities, leaders and managers are involved in the communication process of
firm. On the other hand, bureaucratic organisational structure involves participation
of all the employees in the business decisions. This addition does not only help in
getting numerous ideas and thoughts for the decision-making but also helps in
increasing motivation level of employees. Similarly, there are various other structure
that are maintained in different establishments depending upon their working
requirements (Abdullah, 2017). These structures promotes variable level of
communication which can impact upon the work.

Benefits of team work to both individuals’ and employers.
Team work in an organisation brings various benefits to its functions that increases the
reach of the business to achieve it’s objectives. These advantages are not limited up to employees
only they are also helpful for the employers. In context to workers, it simplifies their work by
segregating the work within a group of people (McDonald and Thompson, 2016). In addition to
this, assigning of tasks according to the skills and abilities of the employees help in assuring
quality in the operations of the business. This also reduces the work load to a single person

which allows to focus on the effectiveness of the tasks. Further, some other benefits of team
work for the employees involves that it enhances the communication level between the team
members. Further, it creates healthy working environment which is effective for meeting the
organisational need and aims.
In context to the managers, team work is the most effective thing that will increase the
productivity of the firm. By making use of this tool, employers can assign varied tasks to the
specialised person by analysing their skills and abilities. Further, team work bring effective time-
management in the business operations that is helpful in increasing the productivity of the
organisation. In addition to this, the healthy working environment created with this action will
help in motivating employees. This motivation will influence them to work in an appropriate
manner in the direction of achieving organisational goals. Hence, it is suggested to Century Ltd.
to implement various method in which team work can be enhanced. This will help in eliminating
various issues and help in getting work on track.
Reasons of failure of teams to meet their objectives.
1.Poor planning -The main Reason of failure of teams to meet their objective poor planning.
Company must have specific plans for reach their goals. If company don't have appropriate plan
to start any work then there is no successes in any work. A business plan acts as a guideline on
the basis of which all the activities are carried on. Hence, it is required o be effective and
properly planned.
2 Lack of co-ordination- There is different orientation towards the particular goals. Due to lack
co-ordination between employer and employees also decrease the benefits of companies. This
irregularity in the work pattern will create hurdle in effective completion of the desired
objectives.
3. Ineffective leader- there is need of good leader to explain the work of employees if employees
can't understand their work then they can't do work effectively. Improper knowledge also effects
the work of employees. Effectual leadership style is mandatory to get the work aligned and
perfumed in appropriate manner (McDonald and Thompson, 2016).
4. Lack of resource - one of the most common failure of teams to meet their objective is lack of

resources lack of human resources if there is no proper coordinator to co-ordinate the team then
they company can't reach their decided goals and objectives. Lacking in the basic requirements
necessary for the team will harm the operations and its’ completion within a stipulated time
frames.
5. Conflicts in team- Not dealing with the conflicts will cause productivity and morale to come to
worst. The success of company also depends upon the relationship of employer and employees
of company. Conflicts in the team will generate ego problems within the workers that will
hamper the working environment. That in turn will destroy the overall effectiveness.
6. Lack of focus on excellence- Excellence cannot be taken as granted but written right on the
values and norms. Team member should be allowed to take risk for benefits of company. This
superiority in the operations can be attained after effective monitoring of the team-members.
7. Ineffective problem solving skills- The power of team depend upon ability to creatively and
effectively deal with the challenges without this skill. It will not reach the objected goals. While
performing any businesses, organizations are required to deal with various problems. Hence,
every team should possess ability to deal these issues that can affect the overall effectiveness of
the Century Ltd. (Lareau, and et. al., 2016)
Impact of leadership style of team work.
1.Autocratic leadership- in this leadership style the leader hold all authorities and
responsibilities. Leader makes all decision without consulting to their subordinates. The leader
take all decision and then the work implemented on their subordinates. There is no flexibility in
work environment (Kim and Bae, 2017). This leadership style is not good for all companies. Few
companies can actually support autocratic leadership.
2. Democratic leadership style- In this leadership style subordinates are involved in decision
making. In this leadership style everyone is given opportunity to participate and give new
innovative ideas for new projects. Democratic leadership promotes the group equality. The

democratic leader leads with deciding who is in the group and who gets to contribute to the
decisions (Kersley, and et. al., 2013)
3. Strategic leadership style- Strategic leadership is one that who involves a leader who is
essentially the head of organisation. it is towards to more people at all levels who want to create
a high performance life, team. Effective strategic leadership delivers the goods in terms of what
an organization naturally expects from its leadership in times of change most of leaders believes
in strategic leadership.
4. Transformational leadership- Transformational leadership is about initiating changes in group
of organisations. They target more challenging and typically achieve higher performance

Different ways in which people work remotely.
In the present scenario, the interest of people has highly raised to work in remote manner. This
way of working is mainly appreciated by the workers who love to travel (Kaufman, 2014). It
should be further recognised that there are various ways in which employees can work remotely.
These variations depend upon their job role and suitability for the responsive company.
Some of them are as follows:
Part-time remote working: These are those employees who work partly in the premises and
partly outside it. They mainly belong to the research team, marketing, sales and promotion
divisions, etc. Research department works at different places outside the establishment in order
to search the recent market needs and demands (Kearney and Mareschal, 2014) Similar to this,
marketing and sales divisions work remotely for the promotion of products and services.
 Field based remote working: This type of work is different from both other form of
remote work. In this the job is provided to the employees on the basis of their roles to be
served outside the premises. This type of working involves the manufacturing roles,
engineering jobs, etc.
 Full time remote working: In this type of working structure, the employees are hired with
a purpose to work remotely. In the selected firm, most of the functions are performed by
such employees only. The operations of travelling, shipments, etc. Makes workers to
work remotely (Del Valle, and et. al, 2014)

Thus, these are some common ways in which people can work remotely for an
organisation. In the selected entity all three types that are mentioned does exists. Different
operations demands for the aesthetic type of remote working.
Analysis of leadership style appropriate for remote working.
There are different styles of leadership which are followed by aesthetic companies depending
upon the business objectives. The selected company is widely based on travelling that involves
so much remoteness (Boxall, 2014). Thus, to manage these employees, it is necessary for the
leaders to lead appropriately. In context to remote working, there are some different
requirements which are needed to be fulfilled. As the operations of employees who works
remotely highly varies from those who render services in the organisation. There are some
leadership traits which are required to be possessed by the leaders in this context are as follows:
Engage: Employees who works remotely for the firm somehow lost the communication with the
managers, colleagues, and other components of the organisations. Hence, in this situation leaders
are needed to maintain regular interaction with them. It will also help in motivating them. This in
turn will help entity to grow effectively.
Empower: It is another role that should be played by a leader while dealing with remote

Human resource management department of an organisation plays the most significant role for
supporting the people working in the organisation. There are various roles and responsibilities

to maintain an effective working environment. In an organisation, there are various factors that
may impact upon the employee and can create hurdles for them. In this way, it is foremost duty
of HR to conduct timely sessions to figure out the issues faced at the end of employees. Further,
they are suggested to come up with the tactics to resolve them.
Assessment of the policies and procedures designed to support people.
In order to maintain effectiveness in the business operations, it is highly require that the human
resource management implement relevant policies and procedures (Ackers, 2014)
. These are the already existing tasks which are developed to support the employees of the firm.
For the selected firm Century Limited, they are as follows:
 As per the company norms, it is prohibited for employers to harass employees in the
premises. This action helps in reducing harassment cases in the establishments. Further,
employees can feel safe in such working environment.
 In order to resolve the issues faced by the workforce regarding communication, working
environment, employer relations, etc. The selected firm has in-built installed apps where
employees can register the hurdles faced by them.

 The company further follows an effective procedure in which employees can get their
queries resolves. In this, the issues are first discussed with the team leader. In case if they
are not saved at this stage then workers are free to contact the mangers and other high
level authorities.
Moreover, all the legislation imposed by the government associated with the employee and their
benefits are implemented in the organisation. This regulations helps in reducing the challenges to
the employees and supports them (Baddon, and et. al., 2017)
Assessment of the practices used to support people in the workplace
Employees working for an organisation are the key asset of that can either made or fade it.
They ensure success by performing well to meet the business goals and objective. However, it
should be recognised that the human resource management section of the entity is required to
manage them effectively to gain effectiveness in the business operations. Below are some
practices that can be used by the HRM departments of the Century Limited to support the
employees working there.
 HR team conducts timely sessions with the employees to identify the problems that
are being faced by them. In addition to this, it also renders assistance in evaluating the
flaws of the internal system of the firm (Abdullah, 2017)
 The department fills the gap of communication between the high level authorities
and lower level employees. This interaction helps in developing motivation,
satisfaction and trust among the workers.
 The selected firm responds effective and actively to the queries raised from he
employees end. The complete resolution is aimed to attain in minimum time period
possible.

Recommendations to improve staff’ and mangers’ experience of the workplace.
In order to increase the staff’ and mangers’ experience of the workplace, below are some
recommendations that Century Ltd. should implement in the organisation:

 The entity is suggested to engage all the employees in the decision-making procedures of
the firm. This will help in achieving their trust and satisfaction. This in turn will make
employees to give their best. Consequent to this, work performance and thus,
productivity will be enhanced.
 Secondly, it is recommended that the entity should implement effective leadership
strategies for the people who are working remotely. These strategies should be highly
focused on the method in which these workers can always be linked with the entity. This
will help in gaining employee satisfaction.
 It is also suggested to the human resource management department of the Century Ltd,
that they should involve such practices that can increase the level of communication
between high-level authority and employees. This will bring work effectiveness in the
organisation.
 Moreover, Century Ltd. should focus on the effective team management techniques. For
this, they are suggested to implement those tools which can increase the motivation level
of employees. This will not only create effective working environment but also help the
organisation in getting work done in an effectual manner.
CONCLUSIONS
Human resource is the most important asset of an organisation. In order to manage them
effectively, entities should implement effective and appropriate strategies in the working
environment. There exist various factors that impacts upon the people in the organisation. In the
present report, all these elements are analysed in detail. This report explains the significance of
marinating effective communication in the establishment. Further, existing policies and
procedures to enhance the interactions are described. Besides this, the present undertaking also
signifies the importance of team work in order to achieve effective working conditions. In
addition to this, the importance of possessing effective leader and leadership style has also been
discussed in this report. Moreover, concepts of remote working are explained in detail in this
assignment. The appropriate selection of leaders for such workers is also discussed in the
undertaken piece of work.
