Chapter 1: Introduction
Overview of the research
In today's competitive world talent management has become an important and crucial part
of every organisation as it plays a vital role in enhancing overall skills and competencies of a
company (Bratton and Watson, 2018). Talent management is mainly associated with attracting
and retaining skilled and most competent employees and also associated with providing timely
training and development programmes for workforce. Haven Hotel is situated at central London,
offers traditionally furnished rooms and other services to its customers. Being operating in a
Hospitality industry, it become crucial for this hotel to adopt proper talent management strategies
in order to maintain its competitive strength and better position.
Research aim
The aim of this research work is, “To understand the importance of talent management
together with various strategies and steps of HR manger and leaders to retain and develop its
employees in more effective way”.
Research Objectives
The main motto and objectives associated with this research project conducted on Haven
Hotel are pointed out as follows:
To understand the importance of talent management in enhancing the competitive
strength and overall growth of a hospitality organization. To evaluate various steps and strategies that can be adopted by HR mangers and leaders
of Haven Hotel to have better talent management in order to retain and develop its
employees (Ghatule, 2018).

The purpose and significance for a research
The main purpose of this research work is having better understanding about the
importance of talent management from point of view of organization and employees in order to
get better competencies and strength in business environment. Selection of this research topic is
significant and rational as it provide information about the various steps and strategies that can
be adopted by a manager of hospitality organisation to have better talent management, this
research topic is justifiable as in today's competitive environment it become necessary for all
organisation especially in hospitality sector to adopt and have better talent management to attract
and retain its top talent. Further, the selected topic based on talent management is also suitable
form point of view of educational and academic purpose of research and also meet the personal
interest of investigator.
Activities and timescale
In order to present research activities in a more systematic way following Gantt chart are
prepared that has facilitates clarity and transparency in work and ensure timely completion of
investigation.
