INTRODUCTIONManagers and leaders can be considered as those persons who are having good qualitiesand abilities to perform their work in an effective manner. They are required to do their workwithout any discrimination as there are various types of employees working in their team. Theseare the people who are having the responsibility to motivate their employees so that they performtheir work in an effective manner and help the company in achieving the aims and objectives(Bianchi and et. al., 2011). The organisation referred in this report is Hilton hotel and other Hotelwhich is considered here will be Marriott. The main of aim of this report is to understand theprinciples and practices of management behaviour, reviewing the own potential. There will alsobe a discussion on managerial skills and a career development plan will also be created. TASK 11.1 Comparison between distinct management stylesA successful managers are flexible in their styles and they shift to different managementstyles as per the requirement. Therefore, transforming to various style according to situations is askill and helps managers in developing a strong set of behaviour for critically get success. Thereare several kinds of organisations that are doing their operations in the society and all of them arehaving a manager who is having their responsibilities to manage the work of whole organisation.Some of the management styles are explained below:Autocratic: This is a management style which is pretty build a negative impression andshow a person as dictator giving orders to other individuals. Therefore, in this style of leadershipmanagers just give orders to employees and if they fail to do so than they can face consequences.But autocratic management style has some benefits as well especially in particular situations. Forexample: if company wants to maximise its sales and profitability if firm is going throughdifficult circumstances. Consultative: This kind of leadership style is totally different from autocratic as in thismanagement seeks for employees reviews and feedbacks. Therefore, company who adoptsconsultative style of management leads to better relationship amongst employees and company. Persuasive: In this managers enjoy the power of decision making and they in everyattempt they try to prove why decision taken by management is bets for the organisation. Democratic: This is considered as one of the effective management style and decision aremade for getting long term benefits. Therefore, in democratic employees and management work

in a collaborative manner so as to create a clear vision for a company. Hence, democratic stylesuses effective communication process and provides a clear forum to employees where they areshare their views and thoughts. Laissez-faire: In this manager is more like mentor and provides guidance to employees indecision making and performing their task in a better manner. Hilton is considered as one of the top most organisations in hospitality industry as theyare serving to their customers since many years and in an effective manner as well. Theirservices are quality focussed and the interiors they provide are also fabulous. They are having somany competitors in the market but still they try to outwit all of them and attract maximum no.of competitors (Cavanagh, 2012). But there is one competitor who is giving tough competition toHilton and that one is Marriott Hotels. They are also having equally good interiors and theirservices are also world class. So, a comparison is required to be done through which it can beascertained that how they manage to understand the demand of consumers and attract more ofthem. Comparison is done as follows:-Marriott hotelHilton hotelHere the employees normally takesguidance of their co-workers beforetaking any kind of decisions associatedwith the organisation. Participativemanagementstyle: Theyprefer participative management styleto involve employees for gaining betterideas which helps to improveprofitability. Collaborativemanagementstyle: Thecollaborative style is used by managershere so as to make better decision bymajority which can reduce factor ofemployee resistance. Since the organisation is big so thereare many times that the employeesHere, most of the time employees arenot asked to provide their judgement inany discussion that is being carried outby the company. Consultativemanagementstyle: Theconsultative style that to take feedbacksfrom workers before making anydecision accurately. Persuasive management style: Theyfocus on persuasive method ofmanagement to retain control of makingdecisions for applying best idea inbusiness.
