INTRODUCTION
In modern world, due to globalisation and high use of technology market competition in
increasing every day. Also, customer of this era becoming more demanding about their needs
and demands. So, it is highly important for all companies to improve their working conditions
and business performance so that they can lead to high level of growth and also can survive in
competitive market place. Organisation should hire high skilled employees who can help it in
achieving its desired goals and objectives. Human resources plays most important role in
business enterprise because without them company can not operate its activities in most effective
manner. For recruiting high skilled workers, organisation should follow appropriate procedures
like recruitment, selection and retention. This project report is based on United parcel services
which one of the leading courier enterprise of UK. In this report, different processes of enlisting
has been explained. Also, styles and impact of leadership has been demonstrated. Effectiveness
of team work has been determined and various development needs of individuals has been
assessed (Bush and Middlewood, 2013).
TASK 1
1.1 Documentation to select and recruit new staff member
In a organisation, management needs efficient and experienced candidate who can help
them to achieve their goals. For this they are conduct recruitment process to increase efficiency
in hiring, retention or consistency. It is includes some step which is a HRM needs to follows-
Identify Vacancy and job analysis- This is the first step of recruitment process which is
conduct by HRM of organisation. In this procedure they identify the duties and responsibility of
different position and what its need at that time. It involves job description and its specification
for which candidates have to different qualification and experience. Job analysis includes
different steps on which management finds their requirement need and their objectives. For this
they are conduct a application process in which they are provide their recruitment need for
people and desired candidate can apply for this. After receiving all the application forms,
management start candidates background information and verify their documentation for this job.
In it human resources management is classify according to different department requirement
(Fraley and et. al.,2011).

involves a big process in which organisation make planning and forecasting. This is a

qualification, work experience as well as their ability for a specific field. After that recruiter
classify them according to their wants. This is a big process in which management conduct
various steps for candidate and candidate needs to qualify them with a effective manner.
Applicant needs to make a different image of themselves because this is the only thing which is
provides them job opportunity because a organisation always wants to hire different candidate
between others (Ion and Lindsay, 2010).
Selection- This is the next step after recruitment process in which HRM making some
decision to hire a perfect candidate according to their organisation. This process is a most typical
task for manger, because they do not have a brief information about candidates personal skills
and capacity. Selection is always includes lots of process according to them a candidate proves
that they are eligible for this job. In selection process applicant gives a personal interview to HR
team of organisation in which they are getting some personal information about candidate such
as their prefer job department, hobbies and their interested apart from that work. This process
helps them to collect data about their attitude, nature and behaviour for others.
Performance analysis- This step is the last step of documentation of recruitment. It is
start after the selection process when HRM consider a perfect candidate for job role. In it,
organisation is provides all the guidelines of their firm to candidate and expects the4m to prove
themselves better than other. Sometimes candidates are very new in business field and do not
have any idea about how to work with previous employees so for this they provides them
personality development training and seminar in which they introduce them to others. After this
process learning and training process candidates need to prove themself with their working skills
and their services contribution in firm (Lev, 2013).

helps company in recruiting high talented staff members which can contribute their hard efforts
in achieving its all desired goals and objectives. The UPS organisation which is courier
enterprise, it wants to recruit new employees so that it can strengthen its business performance.
But before starting recruitment process its HR manager should consider all the rules and
regulations which can affect enlisting and selection procedures. There are various laws and
regulations regarding these processes which should be followed by all companies otherwise, they
can suffer from huge financial loss. Different legal, regulatory and ethical consideration
influence huge impact on recruitment and selection process of The UPS company which can be
determined by below mentioned points:
Impact of Sex Discriminatory act- It is highly important for company to consider this
act. While recruiting and selecting people. Organisation should consider qualification of
candidate rather than his or her sex. If candidate is qualified than company should give
opportunity to person whether person is male or female (Mendenhall, 2012).
Impact if race relation act- According to this act, company should invite people from
all race and nation. If job advertisement of organisation calls for specific race and nationality
than it is dis-obligating race relation act. If the candidate have permission to work in United

workers left this organisation and company faces lots of difficulties after that. Now they want to
recruit new candidate for this they are needed a effective help of HRM to provide them best
quality employees. For this HR is plays a most important role to recruit best worker such as-
Selecting recruit candidates- In this process manger is take responsibility to hire best
candidate for their organisation who can help them to achieve their goals. It is process includes
application, provide information and recruit one best among all. This is a first process of
recruitment and it should have to be effective because through it organisation get more
application forms from candidates (Offstein, Morwick and Koskinen, 2010).
Short listing- After receiving application from candidates, Human resource manger
needs to short list most eligible candidate among others. This selection process is known as short
listing of people. It is includes IQ test, examination through aptitude test and other processes.
Interviews- After short-listing the candidate this step is taking a most important part in
selection process. Manger conducts different pattern of interview to evaluate their interpersonal
skills and ability of talking and working effectively. Some steps are Group discussion,
Telephonic interview, Normal interview, personal and face to face interview.
Appointment- After taking interviews of candidates manager need to provide them
appointment to join their organisation soon. This last step is ensure them that they can start their
carer with this organisation and need to provide their services to them and their candidates.
